Incorrect Document Storage Displayed in MacBook Air Running on macOS Big Sur

About this Mac--> Storage --> Manage
it shows Document folder taking Zero KB but actually its contains files worth 4.64 Gigs I have tried rebooting it several time but it din't worked for me

Put default user agent on safari

GeoGuessr bugs a lot using the default user agent so I prefer using google chrome. But I need to change it every time I open it, so is there any way to put a default user agent that always stays the same, or just put a default user agent for https://geoguessr.com ?

Can LOOKUP be used to find category summaries?

Recently accustomed to LOOKUP (somewhat), game changer. Was hoping to know if there was a way to search for the summary as in this example? If i change the liquor, the ABV will change, changing the average, and would love that to populate on the right chart, costing's wise as well.

iPhone - free up photo space for transfer to new phone

Sorry to have to add to the bajillion questions about freeing up space on an iPhone, but I can't seem to find one that addresses my particular need.

I just bought a new iPhone 12 Mini with 128Gb storage, and "oops", apparently my old iPhone 8 had 256Gb. No problem, I thought, it's only about half full anyway, I'll just delete stuff until I'm under whatever nebulous threshold it needs. There's always some cruft hanging around to delete, I figured.

Well, apparently the vast majority of space on my phone is taken up by photos:

(Note some oddities - "Photos" takes up 106Gb, but everything altogether takes up 44Gb; and the sizing bar shows distinctly more than 50% of storage used, despite being nominally 44Gb.)

If I go in and delete individual photos/movies from the Photos app, then they get removed from everywhere (I have iCloud sync turned on), so I don't want that. Not that I can identify particularly large photos/movies very easily anyway....

With iCloud sync turned on, it seems to do a decent job of keeping disk usage below the limits of my current device (presumably through offloading items to iCloud), but I need it to keep usage quite a bit less than that, so I can complete the transfer to my new phone. After that, presumably it will manage things properly on the new device.

Any suggestions?

"DISK NOT EJECTED PROPERLY" every 60 seconds or so

I attached a 2T magnetic, spinning USB disk to my Mac mini today, and started getting:

DISK NOT EJECTED PROPERLY  Eject "Untitled" before disconnecting or turning it off.

But I'm not ejecting it or removing it, and I'm not futzing with the cabling.

It happens pretty precisely every 60 seconds. It's a pain to keep dismissing all the popups.

I do not have Energy Saver set up on the drive in macOS. And I am currently running a backup to it, so it's probably not idle.

This hardware worked fine on a Linux system.

I'm using macOS 11.5.2.

Any suggestions?

jquery-3.5.1.slim.min.js conflict with lightbox++

So I have a lightbox++ on my site, with a jquery I'm using on the navbar of the mobile query part of my site, and from what I've gathered, they're conflicting with each other.

I attempted using the $.noConflict() placed above and under the jquery script tags, as well as basically all over the place, and nothing worked. But placing the noConflict line would reverse what worked in that moment. So if the navBar was working without the noConflict line, with the line added, it would then not work, but then lightbox would work, etc., and vice versa. So it's affecting something in some way.

I'm just not a developer or steeped enough in this stuff to get the navbar and the lightbox to simply work together.

Some sites I see with the presumed solution, don't take into account noobs like me that need to be deliberately walked through on where exactly to place the noConflict line and exactly how to modify it, given my exact lines of code on my site.

Really frustrating.

How does Apple FaceID authentication work?

I gave my son my passwords to Fidelity Investments and my Spectrum Internet account. On his phone, he logged into both apps with my passwords and only needed his face (using FaceID) to access those two accounts. However, one day I wanted to take away his access and changed passwords to both of those accounts, yet he continues to have access to my accounts on his phone using just FaceID.

I thought FaceID ==> gives the phone owner access to the passwords saved on the phone. Now it looks that the phone owner's face gives direct access to once authenticated apps on the phone. Is that how FaceID works? And there's no way for me to revoke his access to my accounts?

Is it normal that in Apple Photos inside "Imports" tab Photos are not in chronological order?

How can I get music files thumbnails to show in Finder?

My music files suddenly appear like this (as shown below.)

This is what I've tried so far:

  1. Toggle on/off Show icon Preview
  2. Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
  3. sudo find /private/var/folders/ -name com.apple.dock.iconcache -exec rm {} ;
  4. sudo mv /Library/Caches/com.apple.iconservices.store com.apple.ic
  5. qlmanage -r cache
  6. qlmanage -r
  7. Relaunch Finder after each one of them.

I am sure album art exist as they show up in Music (I do not have a subscription -- never did.)

Battery Time Remaining not displayed anymore after update to Big Sur on 2014 Macbook Pro

I recently updated my 2014 MacBook (MacBook Pro Retina, 13') from Catalina to Big Sur. The battery info in the bar on the top doesn't display the battery time remaining anymore.

Online I only found suggestions for installing additional software, which I would like to avoid. Is there some way to regain this information?

Delay at typing on MacOS

I have an MacBook 2020 and if I start to type in some specific apps, it will has some delay (about 0.1-0.3 seconds). In some apps I can see it and in another apps are no delay. It's not a lag of my MacBook (because if I use the same app for a day, I will still have a delay by typing)

MacBook Pro does not start anymore, only Trackpad responds

I used my MacBook Pro (Late 2017) in the recent days, but suddenly it had an unexpected shutdown and the screen went dark. What I saw before the immediate shutdown was a notification, but I wasn't able to read anymore since the shutdown occurred just a few milliseconds.

Well since then, I can't start the MacBook anymore. I can press the button and I can feel, that the Trackpad is active, so it is „clickable". But unfortunately there is no screen turning on or any component running else on the Mac.

Does anyone had something similar in the past or is there a keyboard shortcut to get to some recovery tools? I just wanted to ask before I go to a repair store since the warranty has expired.

plist not running properly after restart

I wrote a worker service that listens for changes in the folder using a filesystemwatcher with C#. After copying the files to a Mac, I created a script and plist file. After running the code below, the program works fine but after restarting the Mac, the service starts but cannot detect the changes in the folder. If I reload the plist after restarting the Mac, it works fine again and detect changes.

How can I make it detect changes for folders without reloading the plist every time?

Goto Out Of Bounds pop-up on iPhone

I started getting pop-ups saying "Goto out of bounds" when:

  1. Battery died and booted upon charging.
  2. While on a call, the call disconnected and I'd see the pop-up on screen.

What could be the issue?

Is it necessary to shutdown and unplug the power cord of Mac Mini every night?

I have a Mac mini M1, I usually use it at night, and shutdown it before I go to sleep. I go to work in the morning, and will use the Mac again at the night.

After every shutdown, I unplug the power cord because I guess it will affect something bad to my Mac if I leave it plugged, am I right and is it necessary?

And should I sleep the Mac instead of shutdown?

Is there a macOS Big Sur dock icon mockup or generator to get custom rounded icons?

The categories I can see are

Compressor Export causes Mac to freeze up, crash

When I export a movie from Final Cut Pro to compressor, it begins running just fine. However, it will eventually cause my Mac mini (2018) to start getting graphical glitches (parts of the window or dock will flicker in and out) and eventually the computer will lock up, then shut down. I have 32GB of RAM, of which only 16GB are used, so I don't think it's running out of RAM. I've ran Apple Diagnostics numerous times and it doesn't detect it, nor do I have issues with anything else graphically intensive. My CPU doesn't go above 150℉ [65℃], and the GPU doesn't go above 180℉ [82 ℃].

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I'm getting tired of losing progress on projects (apparently final cut doesn't immediately save) as well as the additional time it takes to render something many times before it actually succeeds.

This has started happening while rendering the video (inside Final Cut Pro). Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Localhost has stopped working on Chrome and Safari since upgrading to Big Sur - how do I get this to work again?

I use localhost to develop Wordpress websites locally but since upgrading to BigSur, I cannot get localhost to show my local websites.

My set up is MacBook Pro with Big Sur v11.4. I use MAMP software v6.3 for my local server environment I have tried to open local websites on Safari 14.1.1 and Chrome Version 91.0.4472.101 There's been brief intermittent success in an incognito Chrome Window and in Safari when I first tried to use localhost:8888 but that was only when I was able to use http and not https (when unsuccessful it redirects to https: and fails).

With MAMP running...

When I type 'localhost' in either browser - I get "it works!"

'https://localhost:8888' returns On Chrome: "This site can't provide a secure connection localhost sent an invalid response. ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"

On Safari: "Safari can't open the page "https://localhost:8888" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server localhost"

I try to type in http only but it always redirects to https: in both browsers

When I use an incognito window in Safari - the website displays as expected but

In Chrome incognito - it returns "This site can't provide a secure connection localhost sent an invalid response. ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"

It seems like it's https: causing a problem but I don't know if that's a correct assumption or how to fix it. Can anyone help to identify the problem and how to fix please as it's really impacting my ability to work.

I have asked Apple for support but as it's not clear where the issue lies they haven't really taken this on as their problem.

Logitech Options won't let me change the "Keystroke assignment" assigned to a mouse button anymore

Logitech Options won't let me change the "Keystroke assignment" assigned to a mouse button anymore. I just get a sad error noise every time I try to set one.

Strangely, there are already keystroke assignments set for the mouse buttons on one of my Logitech mice. (I set them a long time ago.) They appear in the Logitech Options app and those assignments still work. But I cannot change them.

This is on Catalina, and I have Logitech Options and Logitech Options Daemon enabled under Security & Privacy => Accessibility and Security & Privacy => Input Monitoring.

Logitech Options used to work fine for me, but it stopped working at some point, and now no amounting of fiddling seems able to make it work properly again.

Any ideas?

Looking to take a fixed screenshot at intervals while changing the page in safari for a book

I am trying to screenshot all the pages of a textbook i have online. I am opening the book in safari, all i want is to automate in some way the ability to take a fixed location screenshot at intervals save it to downloads or desktop(wherever) and then have a my cursor click the next page button and retake a screenshot a multitude of times would this be possible in anyway?

Verizon message+ does not sync your own texts with iphone texts

My friends are using Verizon's Message+ app for a group chat. I would like to participate.

The primary problem is that when I send messages from Message+, the messages that I send do not show up as text messages in the iPhone iMessage version of the conversation. So I can only see what I text from the Message+ app.

Everyone else can see my messages in both places. I cannot find anything in the iPhone settings to change this.

[This problem makes no sense... why would the app not sync my own messages with my own phone, when it shows it to everyone else, even though some people don't have iPhones (some are on android)? ] (Original)

Edited: Everyone else can see their own texts in both apps, but I cannot. There must be some setting to toggle this, but I cannot find it in either app's settings. None of my friends toggled any settings from default, nor did I. Any help is appreciated.

Symbols appear instead of letters/numbers when typing on Mac

Im using a Mac book air and when I try to type something, random weird symbols appear instead of texts. The symbols "Œ„´‰ˇÁ¨ˆØ∏" appear when I try to type "qwertyuiop".

I had already found a solution although it is only temporary.

I revert my keyboard through following these steps:

  1. Open system preferences
  2. Select accessibility
  3. Select keyboard
  4. Enable sticky keys
  5. turn it off
  6. Problem solved!

However, every time I close my laptop it makes the same error again and I have to fix the accessibility settings each time. Although everything else is working fine I'm still looking for a long-term solution to this problem. I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of logging into the guest account just to change the settings in order to be able to type the password in my main user account on my mac.

How to type backslash in Russian on Macbook pro

I can't find the backslash key either in low case or upper case(by holding shift key) in Russian input method( I chose it on input source) on Macbook pro.

But if I choose russian pc input method, there is no "e with two dots above", but in the place having slash and backslash.

Any one has a solution to this typing problem?

Do you know of any?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm already making apps using cocoa/objective-c, and I really love ruby and obscure languages.
