GNOME desktop crashes when I start Minecraft Java Edition on GNU/Linux(e.g. Ubuntu)

When I start the Minecraft Java Edition launcher and load completed, the GNOME desktop crashes. I tried it over 6 times, but it still crashes.

I need to solve this problem to play Minecraft on GNU/Linux with GNOME desktop.

How do I summon a ghast fireball in Minecraft Bedrock Edition?

I can summon fireballs useing /summon fireball in the java version of Minecraft, but then I tried it in Bedrock Edition and it didn't work.

Is Minecraft Bedrock Edition backwards compatible with minor versions?

Change Light Colour of a Custom Block

I recently created a resource+behaviour pack for Minecraft Bedrock Edition, with custom light source blocks, named number_zero, number_one, And so on until number_nine.

Unfortunately, these light sources only have a white glow. How do you change a custom light source's colour?

Would changing the radiator of an AIO cooled GPU with a bigger one improve cooling?

I have an AIO watercooled GPU (MSI SeaHawk X GTX1080) that has been struggling with temperatures for a while.

The temperature problem isn't alarming for now, but as time passes and newer games come out it even though I never aim for more than 1080p60 it has been harder and harder to keep temperatures below 60/65°C.

In recent games it has become very common for temperatures to slowly rise of around 1°C every 10/15 minutes and to end up surpassing 70°C if I don't allow the card to rest and the water to cool down every once in a while by alt-tabbing or closing the game.

I know 70°C is usually perfectly OK for a GPU but with the AIO being a closed system and all I really don't like for the water to be so close to boiling temperatures, especially since temperatures never really stabilize: the hotter they get the slower they rise, but they never stop rising.

As you can see the GPU is connected to a tiny 120mm single-fan radiator, would changing it with a bigger one (maybe a 240mm dual-fan one or even a 360mm one with 3 fans) improve cooling and help stabilize the GPU's temperature?

What is this grey status effect in Dark Souls Remastered?

I have a random status effect on my character.

I looked up the status effect symbols for Dark Souls Remastered, but the wiki doesn't have it. For reference, even if I remove all armor, rings, and weapons, it persists. Otherwise, I wear Marvelous Chester's set, and use a +15 Iaito, a +10 Fire Gargoyle's Halberd, the Grass Crest Shield, Havel's Ring, and the Ring of Steel Protection.

What is that grey oval symbol?

Are lives and coins saved after a reset?

In some Mario games, extra lives get reset after saving the game and reloading your file. (Mario 64, Galaxy, etc)

In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, will my extra lives and coins be saved if I reset my console and reload my save file?

Where can I find a replacement cable for PowerA's Spectra Enhanced Wired Controller?

I have a Power A Spectra Enhanced Wired Controller for XBOX One:

My snap-lock detachable cable broke and I'm having trouble finding a replacement. I've searched Amazon and Google but so far I've turned up nothing.

Does anyone have an idea on where I can find a replacement cable, or should I just buy a new controller?

Gigabyte Gpu GTX 960 suddenly too slow for dx9 games

All of a sudden, games using direct X 9 are too slow and stutters with around 10-20 fps, while the gpu is working at 99%. The exact games used to function a week ago reaching 100+fps and without that stress on the GPU.

The Nvidia experience says that I can play these games on max settings, which I have always done for years. But now it feels like my pc got senile all of a sudden.

The paradox now is that newer more resource demanding dx11 games function perfectly as they did, nothing has changed! And on some that have the option to, if I chose to play using dx9, fps drop down to the ground!

Games:

  • Call of duty MW2 and MW3 the old ones from 2009 and 2011. (Used to run like a charm, now unplayable at 11 fps.
  • Call of duty ww2 (surprizingly still working perfectly as before)
  • Max Payne 3 works perfectly when set to use dx11 but too slow on dx9!

Tried all the below with no success:

  • I formatted my drive and installed a clean windows setup.
  • Cleaned my pc components, ram, gpu, cpu, fans etc.
  • Flashed an updated version of BIOS.
  • Tried not installing any windows updates.
  • Tried older versions for my GPU drivers.
  • Made sure directX is updated, and all other needed drivers are installed.
  • Reinstalled the same games from scratch.
  • Used pc passmark benchmarking tool to put heavy stress on all pc components, nothing failed. However, it pointed out that its dx10 and dx11 performance is in the same range as other user PCs with the same setup, BUT dx9 tests show that the performance is way down even worse than an intel HD4000 and a gt 640!

Pc

  • Nvidia Gigabyte Gtx 960 2GB
  • Kingston A400 ssd
  • Intel Q9550
  • 8GB ram
  • Windows 7 ultimate (same copy)

What carries over from a Chapter 1 save file into Chapter 2?

In the menu for Deltarune Chapter 2, there's an option to import a save file from Chapter 1. Unfortunately, I no longer have my Chapter 1 save.

My main team is Keqing, Beidou, Chongyun and Barbara, so mostly Electro.

When I am doing a quest and the dialog leads me to fighting the Fatui, often one of these chaps is in the group.

Fatui Skirmisher - Cryogunner Legionnaire

It's my understanding the best way to break the cryo shield is to cause a reaction with it, however, Hydro and Electro do cause reactions but don't seem to take the shield away.

This means I have to just tank the enemy with food and attack it with physical damage until it dies. I am in combat so I'm unable to swap my team members.

Do these enemies really require having a Pyro hero in your team? Or is the only real option I have to waypoint away, change my team and return to the area?

How do you punch and eat a golden apple at the same time in Minecraft?

I saw some people use a technique where they block with their sword AND punch the player at the same time. Also, those players also end up punching the player WHILE eating the golden apple, creating this weird animation where you punch and eat on the run, like what you see in Wifies's videos. Can this be possible in 1.17?

Can't connect to my own minecraft server

for more context it's a 1.12.2 modded forge server running on my own pc, other people are able to join but when I try to connect it returns the error "io.netty.channel.abstractchannel$annotatedconnectexception connection refused no further information." I'm also unable to port forward due to me not being able to access router settings so I'm port forwarding it with Utorrent. As for things I've tried: -restarting my pc -restarting my internet (I haven't tried resetting the router yet) -redownloading minecraft -recreating the server -updating java

As a post note, the server is running perfectly fine and the problem my connection to the server

Will I benefit from taking animal beds in a caravan?

When I go somewhere by caravan, I always remember to take bedrolls so my colonists will get a good night's sleep. But this invariably leads to their sleep bars filling up quickly, followed by a long wait while the caravan animals finish sleeping as well.

What if I bring along some animal sleep beds? Will the caravan animals use them to finish sleeping faster?

Do strongholds spawn under abandoned villages?

Strongholds have a 1/10 chance to spawn under a village; does this also apply to abandoned villages? If so, does the reason for abandonment have any impact to this statistic?

Second Nether portal links back to original portal location in the Overworld

I built a Nether portal in a village and one near spawn. The portals are about 5k blocks apart from each other. But if I go through to village portal, it takes me back to the main spawn portal instead of creating another one in the nether.

I understand how portal linking works, I calculated the distance, and instead of the portal taking me into the exact same spot in the Overworld that I calculated, it just takes me back to the spawn portal.

This server has no plugins. Would a plugin solve this? Or is there another way I can get this to work?

What sort of cord do I need to fix my wired Xbox One controller?

Back in December my parents got my a new wired Xbox One controller. Recently, it's cord broke and I cannot find a replacement. The issue is that inside the port it has this little bit that comes up. If you try to put a normal cord in then it catches the big and won't go into the actual port.

My parents and I have scoured Amazon for the cord, for the controller, even Google but to no avail. So I have no idea where to get a replacement for the cord.

So I'm looking for a cord that won't be caught by the big and will be able to charge the controller.

How do I use a target selector to output the nearest player's UUID?

I want to be able to use a target selector to select all of a player's tamed wolves. It's easy to do that with this target selector:

@e[type=wolf,nbt={"OwnerUUID":"<Player UUID>"}]

When I try to use the JSON selector string to specify the UUID like this:

@e[type=wolf,nbt={"OwnerUUID":{"selector":"@p"}}]

the selector string returns the nearest player's name. The OwnerUUID data value of the wolf obviously requires a UUID. Is there a potential workaround for this?

sometimes dinosaurs appear when they enter my radius (I enter their radius actually) and my phone vibrates to alert me,

sometimes dinosaurs are visible in the distance and I can travel to them but get no vibration alert when they enter my radius

what causes this difference?

How to disable HUD transparency in Half-Life?

UI doesn't scale based on resolution and HUD is relatively small already in 1920 x 1080 (let alone in 4K), and crosshair in particular is difficult to see.

Having non-transparent HUD would help playing at high resolutions. How can I disable HUD transparency?

Which method gets more Adam?

Considering that every (I think) 3 Little Sisters you save you get a present of Adam at the Gather's Garden, if you went though the entire game and Harvested all/Saved all the Little Sisters which method would give the most amount of Adam by the end of the game?
