Leveling armor with the Aethereal Crown

Posted: 07 May 2021 02:53 AM PDT

In this question I don't care about perks, enchantments or armor value. I only care about how fast the skills level up. We assume that the following buffs are in play:

Wearing more heavy armor pieces increases the speed at which the skill levels, However I wasn't able to find any information detailing exactly how this works. So how would the leveling speed be affected by replacing the heavy armor helmet with the Aetherial Crown containing The Lover Stone?

Since there are 4 armor pieces it might be natural to assume that removing the helmet reduces leveling speed by 25%. However another possibility is that armor with a higher armor rating count for more, which means the helmet would account for about 21% of the total armor so replacing it would reduce leveling speed by 21%. The wiki didn't give any details on how the leveling speed is calculated so I honestly don't know. If it's only a 25% reduction it would be somewhat offset by the 15% leveling bonus from Aetherial Crown, making a small sacrifice in armor leveling speed for a large bonus to leveling speed of all other skills.

Interestingly the wiki page for Light Armor does not indicate that the number of pieces worn affects leveling speed. If that is true it could be worth it to replace our heavy boots with light boots in the Scenario above to level up light armor at the same time. I suspect that this is simply an oversight on the wiki?

Can anyone help clarify how armor skill leveling speed would be affected by the above mentioned scenarios?

How do I make a redstone lamp flash with a 50% duty cycle?

Posted: 07 May 2021 03:08 AM PDT

Story

I am using a two-hopper redstone clock to make a redstone lamp blink on and off as an indicator. The hopper clock looks like this:

Hopper Clock Still Image

The lamp is supposed to blink on and off at a constant rate to indicate to the user that the item that the lamp represents requires important attention.

Problem

The redstone lamp is expected to have a 50% duty cycle, that is it is on for the same amount of time as it is off. Instead, it stays on for a little longer, like so:

Hopper Clock Working

This is not ideal. The redstone lamp should stay on for the exact same amount of time that it spends turned off.

According to the Minecraft Wiki:

A redstone lamp activates instantly, but takes 2 redstone ticks to turn off (4 game ticks, or 0.2 seconds barring lag).

This means that in my case, the redstone lamp has a 75% duty cycle. This makes the indicator look very sloppy and floppy to the end user. A 50% duty cycle will make the lamp indicator more clean and make the user interface seem more professional.

Core question

What is the most compact way to compensate for the redstone lamp deactivation delay in a fast redstone clock?

  • An answer that solves this exact problem with the two-hoppers here will receive a happy comment from me and an upvote for thanks for solving my problem, but will not be marked accepted.
  • An answer that can generalize the situation and make a solution that works for any redstone clock will receive the acceptance checkmark.
This can happen either by making a one-size-fits-all addendum or by making an addendum that will require modification depending on the clock, as long as it comes with instructions on how to correctly modify it.
  • The accepted answer will be changed if a better answer than yours comes along. This is not to encourage competition, in fact, I'd prefer collaboration. Suggest improvements to others' suggestions by commenting on their answers, and we can come up with a very optimized solution from that!

300: March to Glory - How to kill Wicker Grunts?

Posted: 06 May 2021 11:00 PM PDT

How to kill Wicker Grunts in 300: March to Glory (PSP)? The game gave me tip, that I should stun them or make damage by counterattacks, but I have no idea how to stun them. I also cannot execute counterattacks.

How to do that?

Why does Jedi: Fallen Order runs so smooth?

Posted: 07 May 2021 04:30 AM PDT

disclaimer: I'm new to PC gaming and this question may be dumb, but I couldn't find anything online

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order isn't a game known for its optimization. My friend, playing with a GTX1050Ti, warned me of this, saying he could push it to 45 fps on medium. I decided to give it a try anyway on my new PC with a GTX970, and the game runs at a smooth 60 fps on epic quality. Is this normal?

How do I counter headwinds in the flying minigame?

How do I dodge the curving attacks?

Minecraft Datapack tags not working (Traveler's Backpack mod, adding items to the accepted_tools tag)

Posted: 06 May 2021 07:31 PM PDT

Never made a datapack before, bear with me. 1.16.5, trying to add items to a tag list for Traveler's Backpacks. When I issue /datapack enabled list, it shows me my file, but then my items don't behave as if they have the tag.

The file's setup is as follows: datapacks\tb_toolsplus\data\toolsplus\tags\items\acceptable_tools.json. The only file outside of the acceptable_tools.json is my pack.mcmeta, which is working fine.

The contents of acceptable_tools is here:

{   "replace": false,   "values": [     "ars_nouveau:novice_spell_book",     "ars_nouveau:apprentice_spell_book",     "ars_nouveau:archmage_spell_book",     "minecraft:bow",     "iceandfire:dragonbone_bow,",     "ars_nouveau:spell_bow",     "minecraft:tipped_arrow"   ] }

Plus a closing curly bracket that this won't display (new to the site, sorry). If it helps, here's the link to the mod page on CurseForge, and here's one to their own files. Any help would be greatly appreciated--I'm trying to set this up for an RPG server and it unbalances things in a weird way to have only vanilla items function. Also, apologies if this is just something dumb. Like I said, it's my first datapack and my first time really fussing with Minecraft coding or in-depth commands at all :,)

Trying to guess a helicopter shooting game I played as a child [closed]

Posted: 07 May 2021 02:20 AM PDT

This was one of my favourite games which I played as a child. In the game, you had to select a helicopter at the beginning, which you had to use to complete the level. The Ammo was infinite and there were different kinds of weaponry available which could be interchanged by collecting the particular weapon's icon; Lasers, an electric gun which shot charges and used the target as a platform from which to shoot the next target, to name a few. The end was to destroy a power plant. I cannot for the life of me remember the name. There was also a 2-player mode available (both players on the same machine). I really wish to play it again. Can someone help?

Does the auto-select feature in New Pokémon Snap take challenges into account?

Posted: 06 May 2021 03:13 PM PDT

I've collected quite a few challenges to complete, but typically I use the Auto feature at the end of a level to select the pictures.

Does it take into account active challenges when deciding which picture to select?

What happens to my money if I found a colony in October, November, or December?

Posted: 07 May 2021 01:41 AM PDT

In the game Slipways, income is calculated at the end of each year. This income is calculated as:

I = ΣT(c) - ΣU(c) - nA(n)  (¢) T(c) = 2 * (i(c) + e(c)) Where:  T = Trade Income per colony U = Upkeep per colony  A = Admin cost n = Number of colonies i,e = Number of imports and exports

Here, Admin cost depends on the number of colonies. For every 8 colonies it goes up by 1¢

Founding a colony takes a total of 3 months time. So what exactly happens if those three months end up overlapping the new year, meaning the action of founding was initiated either in October, November, or December?

How to change the playback speed of a clip in PS5’s media gallery, similar to what’s possible in PS4?

Posted: 07 May 2021 03:06 AM PDT

In PS4, whenever I view a clip I captured, I can fast forward or rewind by pressing either left/right or L2/R2, which would adjust the playback speed up to a maximum of 120x. However, in PS5, L2 and R2 don't seem to have any effect, while left/right would always jump by 10 seconds. Is this to be expected? Feels like a massive regression to me since when jumping by intervals of 10 seconds, I can't see exactly what was happening as the image is always frozen at the original frame, and I can't locate a specific passage of play as a result. The 10 seconds interval is also too coarse I want to see for multiple times one specific play which finished in e.g. 3 seconds.

  • Linux Snap 2.2.0 "ScummVm konnte im gewählten Verzeichnis kein Spiel finden!"

I probably misunderstood the documentation which files should be copied. Is anybody out there, who got this working. Could you please share your file tree with me?

How can you run Genshin Impact in borderless windowed mode?

Posted: 06 May 2021 05:50 PM PDT

The menu video settings only allow for either fullscreen or windowed, but not borderless fullscreen or windowed fullscreen, which would be nice for me as I run a dual monitor setup. It is annoying to have to alt-tab out to the browser which then causes the game to minimize.

Item and ability visit on the same person

Do roles like stalkers and harlots see two separate visits if a player visits the same player with an item and their ability at the same time?

Should I avoid rocket jump "scripts" and "binds"?

Posted: 06 May 2021 11:33 PM PDT

Because you also have to crouch — in addition to jumping and shooting at your feet — in order to reach the highest jump length as soldier, some people have resorted to scripts or binds to streamline the process into one keypress. I have heard that using a bind significantly limits the player's ability to jump and should thus be avoided — is this correct?

Is the ocean at either end of the map infinite?

Posted: 06 May 2021 12:13 PM PDT

I am wondering if the oceans at either end of the map are infinite. I want to use one as my primary source of water by using 2 pumps and an insanely long wire (using a sky bridge) to pump water back to my base, while at the same time using it for my Obsidian Farm. I'd rather not have to worry about setting up a second water source in the middle of Hardcore Mode.

Cannot find Underground Jungle Temple

Posted: 06 May 2021 12:11 PM PDT

On my 1.2 Terraria Map I have been mining from left to right in my large underground jungle using my rocket launcher. Despite this, I have had no luck on finding the Underground Jungle Lihzahrd Temple. I have been searching the layer above where lava constantly spawns.

Have I simply spawned in a world without one or am I searching in the wrong place? I have also considered using the clentimator with Dark Blue ammo to provide light, should I do that?

Differences between PC, console and mobile versions of Terraria?

Posted: 06 May 2021 01:06 PM PDT

I love the game Terraria for PC and played it for ages. Now I saw Terraria on the PS3-Store and gave it a shot. After some wandering around I saw something like a snow-biome and realised later on, that I was on a floating Island.

I haven't played much of Terraria the last months, but this stuff seems kind of new. In addition I haven't found the (current) differences between the PC and the Consoleversion. Is there just one (upcoming?) Patch missing on the PC? What's included or - like the title said - what are the current differences (besides the splitscreen-feature of course)?
