Why should I repay a loan?

While in CKII there was a opinion penalty towards the clergy, in CK3 I cannot find any downsides on having a loan.

The Wiki says that it "Removes all negative effects associated with holy order loans", but I couldn't find any such effect.

Is there some hidden effect I didn't notice nor encounter yet?

How does Ethereal and Air Shield stack?

The tooltip for Ethereal says it makes 75% of non-magical attacks miss. The tooltip for Air Shield(X) says it makes X percentage of non-magical ranged attacks miss. It pretty clearly stacks somehow, as air elementals with Ethereal and Air Shield(50) get hit by less than 1/4 arrows, but it's unclear what actual protection is. What is the exact benefit my air elementals are getting?

I made a LV13 Moze, starting from Arms Race, and she has Minos Prime unlocked, but my old Zane, who's LV36, in Chapter... Whatever's Eden-6, doesn't have it unlocked.

Do the DLC boosters prevent trophies?

Ruinverse has 3 DLC packs that add boosters as follows:

  • Damage x2
  • Experience x3
  • No skill cost

The descriptions say these boosters can be switched on/off in game.

Does enabling any of these boosters prevent trophies from being unlocked?

For the Vault Cards' Manufacturer-related challenges, grenades don't count?

I have a "Kill 250 enemies with Hyperion weapons", and while my Widowmaker grenade mod counts for the Galaxy Manufacturers' Challenge of Business Bombadier: "Kill enemies with Hyperion grenades."

They don't seem to be counting for the Vault Card? Or is it because Widowmaker's a strange one? It has multiple different possible manufacturers, and the initial grenade is not what kills?

I lob a mine, which, on explosion, turns into homing rockets?

I wonder if it's similar to how Zane's Duct Tape Mod is said to protect Zane from his own guns and grenades, but the Wiki seems to indicate that's incorrect somehow?

Mob spawning radius?

I have my mob farm. It is 23 blocks above the ground.

I stayed at the bottom of it, but no mobs are spawning. After leaving and exploring a nearby cave, 2 zombies spawned.

My question is, do mobs only spawn with a x/z radius, not y?

Controller isn't syncing to ps4

I used my ps4 controller on my pc via bluetooth, I now disabled bluetooth on my pc and I am trying to hook the controller up to my ps4 now, I searched it up on google and it said to plug in the controller and press the ps button but that did not work, whenever i turn the controller on it just flashes light blue and eventually turns off what should I do?

I purchased the Windows 10 version of Minecraft so that my kids and I could play together. (cross-platform) I'm playing on pc they are on the switch. My question is If I purchase a MOD pack say the new How to train your dragon pack. And start up a world with that pack can my kids join that world without having the mod pack owned? I'm trying to keep from having to purchase it 3 times?

Can I setup a PS3 to use a PS4 Dual Shock 4 controller without a PS3 controller?

So I just bought a PS3 Slim but it did not come with a controller. I couldn't find any PS3 controllers so I got a Dual Shock 4 instead.

Is there any way I can use the Dual Shock 4 with the PS3 console without a PS3 controller?

(I'm a Xbox user so I don't know much about this.)

Can you get multiple elytras after killing the ender dragon once? So far I only found 1 each time I killed the dragon. I've found about 20 end cities and got 7 or 8 elytras.

How do I deal with Steam's phantom comment notification?

There is a phantom "new comment" notification haunting my Steam account. You know, one of these things that's tracked by the wdiget with the envelope in the upper right corner of the window in the client or the website:

Before I try to view it, it appears to be a regular comment notification. When I get X new notifications, the overall notification counter shows I have X+1 new notifications; and when Y of them are specifically new comment notifications, the menu says I have "Y+1 new comments". All counters tick down properly as I read up the notifications - at least until there's only the phantom notification left.

When I try to view it, I either:

  • (if there have been other comment notifications recently:) get a list of new comments that accounts for all the notifications - except the phantom one;
  • (if there have been none) get an error screen assuring me I have no comment notifications at the moment, like this:

I'm assuming it was created when a vitriolic user made a post in a Steam forums thread I was following, and became phantom when that post got deleted in some specific time window between me receiving it and trying to view it.

I have had this phantom comment notification for about 5 months now. It didn't go away after I received and clicked several newer comment, item, or Steam support notifications.

It persisted across daily log-ins, daily log-outs, daily PC boot ups, and many, many Steam updates.

Steam support doesn't know how to deal with this.

I'm assuming doing anything with the client won't change anything, since it also haunts the website.

Viewing notification in Big Picture mode didn't help at all.

I've tried scrolling all the way down to the [My Username] > Activity log. I've reached the bottom - no fix.

Is there any way to make it go away?

PUR-UnknownExternalError when trying to redeem Microsoft XBOX Gift Cards

My son bought two US$15 Microsoft XBOX gift cards with his own money (he wants to buy Minecraft). After several hours of unsuccessfully trying to redeem them on a Windows 10 PC, here we are. It seems we repeatedly receive an error message to this effect:

Try that again    Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help.    PUR-UnknownExternalError

We haven't been able to find anything on the internet that helped. Moreover,

  • We have made repeated attempts over a period of several hours.
  • Our AllowMicrosoftAccountSignInAssistant was already set to 1.
  • The App troubleshooter did not seem to shoot the trouble.
  • The trouble started again after a PC restart

Anyone have any suggestions?

How to run Minecraft Java without the launcher - Mac

I am creating my own Minecraft launcher and I want to know the terminal command for opening Minecraft Java. I've tried many solutions online but most of them are outdated or only for Windows.

I already authenticated with https://authserver.mojang.com/authenticate, and now I want to run a terminal command which opens Minecraft given the username/password or access token.

Warcraft 3 Hamachi crashes ingame sometimes

recently I started to play warcraft 3 (version: 1.26.0.6401, tft, the original) again. Since playing alone is pretty boring I made a Hamachi server and connected with my friends. Now we have the problem, that most of the times the game crashes for some people (not always the same player). So its pretty unplayable right now. What I don´t understand, that I played with one friend for ~90 minute on one map and it didnt crashed. Sometime it crashed after a minute sometimes after 40 minutes.

Anyone knows how to fix this? If more information is needed I can add it. Kinda strange problem but maybe someone ran through it.

How do I re-enable the windows key while playing a game?

I've only played a handful of games but, when I pause a game, I usually get control of my mouse to click on something outside of the game in Windows.

If I cannot, I press the windows key and that does the trick.

Now I am playing Doom campaign mode and I cannot figure out a way to click outside the game window and the windows key doesn't work.

I cannot find anything in the settings either.

How can re-enable the windows key in this scenario?

Why didn't Allen just kill Makarov at the start of No Russian?

I have never understood this seemingly major plot hole in this mission. We know a few things:

  • Allen is an undercover spy posing as Alexei Borodin, in order to figure out what Makarov is up to
  • Makarov and his cohorts already planned to shoot up a Russian airport. This would've been enough in my opinion to kill Makarov -- what is there to uncover if it is already crystal clear he plans on massacring civilians?
  • Perhaps Makarov is up to something much grander -- but killing off Makarov would ultimately delay or ruin those future plans, and at this point it's clear how many countries want Makarov dead.
  • We know that Shephard betrayed Allen by revealing his true identity to Makarov - We know that Shephard intended on Makarov to kill Allen to spark anger between the Russians and the US, but Makarov doesn't take action UNTIL they are about to escape, as opposed to Makarov knowing that Yuri betrayed him and leaving him for dead PRIOR to the start of the mission.

Thus my question is, why didn't Allen just kill Makarov at the start of No Russian?

I can't find my dinosaurs, I play on a private server tamed an alpha raptor using force tame and tamed a sarco then a few other 20 dinosaurs. The whistle doesn't work and I know they are near my corpse but I can't find it. Is there any way to use admin commands to teleport to my corpse, and if not, anyway to find my corpse without it. I just want my dinosaurs back.

I've updated Minecraft PE, and in the update notes it states that they've added the End. But when I made a new creative world and built a portal, it didn't work.

I've been looking online at tutorials, but cannot get the portal to open. So how do you create an Ender Portal?

Every Unreal Engine game I play has a framerate drop after about ten minutes

I have been having this problem with a variety of games. The ones I can recall specifically right now are Life is Strange and the one I was just playing, The Old City.

Both games, and at least one other I can't remember, play fine for the first ten minutes or so. Life is Strange is getting about 80fps, and The Old City is just over 60fps. But after a little while, both games drop to 22fps. I thought it was just specific to Life is Strange initially, and beat that entire game, but that was about a month ago and now I'm having the same problem with yet another game. What could cause it and how could I fix it?

I've tried stopping as many other processes as possible, turning off every video game and streaming overlay I can think of, and just now I tried going into the BaseEngine.ini file and increasing the PoolSize value from 160 to 2048, with I believe corresponds to MB of GPU memory. My rig is an AMD FX-8350, 16GB of RAM, an nVidia GTX 760 with 4GB of RAM, and 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm using an ASUS VG248QE 144Hz monitor.

Starting game freezes during loading game with black screen

The game keeps loading for an infinite amount of time. It shows the Last of us logo blinking all the time and nothing happens. It's been more than 3 hours waiting now. It is just after starting the game. There is no music nor menu, just this black loading screen.

How can I complete the Blood on the Ice quest?

I had been playing through this quest and accused the court wizard of the murders in Windhelm. I went to see him in prison and he told me to look for the real killer at night. I ran frantically around the city but couldn't catch up to the arrow indicator on the map. I did find a dead body though and no one seems to want to acknowledge that it is there. Everyone just walks past it. So, I went to my house and found the real murderer inside, trying to find his bloody altar. I can hit him until he falls to his knees but he gets back up and carries on. If I try to hit him more after he goes down, guards come into my house and start attacking me! I have no conversation options with the Jarl or his steward to tell them the real killer is in my house. How can I complete this quest?

Where can I find Yaevinn for the quest "The Unforgiven"?

I tried to stay neutral at the bank robbery and ended up helping Siegfried (which, as I read, cannot be helped). Now I'm looking to side with the Scoia'tael in the quest "The Unforgiven", but I cannot find Yaevinn.

Online sources indicate that he should be at the refugee camp in the swamp, but I've checked and he isn't. There is, however, a pretty annoying Elf who likes to steal my Feainnewedd every time I talk to her.

So far I have checked these areas at each of the four major times of day:

  • Vivaldi's house
  • Refugee camp
  • Druid's grove
  • Elven ruins (sewers)

By the way, I'm trying to go for the neutral path, having already been through the Flaming Rose one. Please correct me if I'm going about this the wrong way. I tried talking to Velerad but he's not interested in doing much other than dice poker.

I'm starting to think that my save file is bugged. If anyone is interested, you can download my most recent save in a zip here.

What's the most efficient Minecraft mining strategy?

When I'm not exploring fresh caves or lands in minecraft, I'm busy trying to find deposits of diamond, gold and iron deep in the earth. So far I've just been digging around just above bedrock on a whim to look for these rare minerals but I've started thinking that I should be taking a more controlled, efficient approach to mining.

What is the optimal mining strategy that yields the most rare minerals while minimizing blocks removed and time spent digging and traveling?

Edit: The existing answers are great for mining, but no one has addressed travel time to and from the mine which is usually ~60 blocks downward and incredibly tedious. Solutions?
