What does the transparent circle around an animal tracker on the compass mean?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 08:53 PM PDT

Randomly, a transparent circle appears around the tracker icon on the compass for an animal:

icon

I found some speculative Reddit posts about this, but no solid answers/none of the comments seem to hold true for me. I thought it might also mean that the animal is the nearest to me, but that doesn't seem to be the case from testing.

What does this transparent circle mean?

Summoning a falling entity on top of an arrow which had just hit the ground

Posted: 31 Oct 2021 12:50 AM PDT

Hullo there, this is just a follow-up question from my previous one, Specific lightning arrow task, after the arrow strikes, and only using a specific bow. So in that one, I asked how would one summon lightning an x amount of times, at an arrow, after it hits the ground. Thanks to mindoverflow, I now know how to do it.
I'm going to write all the code here, because we will need this in a moment.
Stating all the variables needed:

/scoreboard objectives add UseBow minecraft.used:bow /scoreboard objectives add Strike dummy /scoreboard objectives add Timer dummy

Command block that gives the special bow:

give @p bow{CustomModelData:103,display:{Name:"[{\"text\":\"Asraelax's\",\"color\":\"yellow\"},{\"text\":\" Chaos\",\"color\":\"yellow\"}]",Lore:["{\"text\":\"Curse of Zeus\",\"color\":\"gray\",\"italic\":false}"]},Unbreakable:1,HideFlags:7}

First separate chain:

[Repeat] execute at @a[scores={UseBow=1..},nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:bow",Count:1b,tag:{CustomModelData:103,display:{Name:"[{\"text\":\"Asraelax's\",\"color\":\"yellow\"},{\"text\":\" Chaos\",\"color\":\"yellow\"}]"}}}}] run data merge entity @e[type=arrow,limit=1,sort=nearest,distance=..2] {Tags:["lightningarrow"]} [Chain] run summon minecraft:armor_stand ~ ~ ~ {Tags:["lightning"],Invulnerable:1b,Invisible:1b} [Chain] execute at @e[tag=lightningarrow,nbt={inGround:1b}] run scoreboard players remove @a UseBow 1 [Chain] kill @e[tag=lightningarrow,nbt={inGround:1b}]

Second separate chain:

[Repeat] scoreboard players add @e[tag=lightning] Timer 1 [Chain] execute as @e[tag=lightning,scores={Timer=1}] at @s run summon minecraft:lightning_bolt [Chain] execute as @e[tag=lightning,scores={Timer=1}] at @s run scoreboard players add @s Strike 1 [Chain] execute as @e[tag=lightning,scores={Timer=5}] at @s run scoreboard players set @s Timer 0 [Chain] kill @e[tag=lightning,scores={Strike=5}]

So this works perfectly, to change the number of lightning strikes, we only have to change the number in
kill @e[tag=lightning,scores={Strike=5}].

However, after being Zeus for an hour, I became pretty bored, and I thought, what else can I summon? A falling block of course. Now, to become Gaia, I can just change what to summon and state where to summon it (~ ~10 ~) right? Well, technically, that's correct, but it will only summon a column of sand, not really spread out.

So here's my problem, I want to summon a bunch of falling blocks, that is a 3 x 4 x 4. (Basically, a rectangular prism, height 3, width & length 4, that is all sand), 10 blocks on top of an arrow shot from a specific bow.

You can just say, well, make 12 of the second separate chains, and you'll be done, right?
Yep, that's true, but for that you need 24 variables, which is pretty boring and no one wants to write that much code. So is there an elegant way to make this, using only one (or two, or three, as long as it's less than 6) chain? Or am I forced to construct 13 chains, and 25 variables?

Another requirement, it should be somewhat flexible, for example, you could technically cram everything in 1 chain and call it a day, but what if I were to want it to be a 3 x 5 x 5? It should adapt to it.

This is very much appreciated if you solve this problem, I might put a bounty on this later if this doesn't get answers.

P.S. I'm not using /setblock or /fill because I might want to replace the falling block with another block.

how do i make a item have damage in minecraft

How to reload/refuel maintenance trailers?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 02:51 PM PDT

I've driven through the repair zone/service hub near the garage 14 times with the towed yellow maintenance trailer hooked to the back of my truck on Michigan Dam map, it neither repairs anything, refills anything, nor refuel anything.

All over the internet I see people saying to simply drive through the zone & your vehicle will be repaired, your gas tank refilled, and the maintenance trailer attached will be restocked and refueled. What am I doing wrong?

Do horses spawn in desert biomes?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 02:17 PM PDT

I made a survival world that is just a giant desert, and I found saddles and horse armors. I was wondering if I could find any horses in the desert.

How to make a json file reference another json file as a texture in a Minecraft resource pack?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 11:25 AM PDT

I'm currently making a resource pack for Minecraft, and some of the textures are 3D models. However, each model is identical, but the the json files for them are ~8 MB each (I have 5 of them, one for each type of hoe, minus the netherite hoe). I want to make json files for each item which references the same 8MB json file to cut down on the amount of space the pack takes up.
I've tried renaming one of the files to just hoe.json and then making a different json to reference that, but it shows up as a missing texture in game. The code I used to try to reference the model is below.

{    "parent": "minecraft:item/handheld",    "textures": {      "layer0": "minecraft:models/item/hoe"    }  }

I hope this makes sense, if it doesn't let me know!

What would be an optimal CPU to get for a Minecraft Server for around 100$ if any? (50 player server) [closed]

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 10:18 AM PDT

I started hosting a MC server on a dedicated machine at home for a week now and I wanted to get something a bit better, it runs with a few plugins - 5GB ram dedicated to the server.

  • So, my budget is around £100 just for the cpu, (motherboard in that range is also great! xD) new or used. I want to know what would be an optimal CPU for a rough 50 players online, with plugins, and 15 chunk render distance.

At the moment i run a AMD Athlon x4 880k and 8GB 2133Mhz memory DDR3 (5G to server) but even at 4 players online i see the MSPT over 35 and the server TPS often goes below 20 (50 players is unreachable xD) - currently on latest build of Purpur.jar and PopOS! Linux.

I have read online that Xeon is better, NO, Ryzen is better, no this, no that.... so..... WHAAT ONE IS BETTER LMAO! I have heard that the only thing that matters is Single Core Performance, so an Intel core i3-10105F is within my budget as it beats a 3700x in this application. Is this good for what i need, or can i get better in any way..... any feedback is welcome. Thanks! :D

  • if neither of these cpu's could run 50 players at once, how much would they be able to run?

Procedurally create/read from nbt object/dictionary

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:43 PM PDT

I'm working on a project that requires creating nbt dictionaries from another nbt array.

Essentially, the scenerio is as follows

I have array [1,2,3,4] and I would like to create a dictionary {1:2, 3:4}
These are just example values and will be generated at runtime

However, I can't figure out a way to create a dictionary procedurally, as the only way I know is to do /data modify storage <name> <key> set value <value>

I know I can do set from instead, but the main issue is the hardcoded <key>. I can't figure out a way to procedurally create/remove a key from a dict.

Select the current entity with a command block

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 06:54 PM PDT

In Minecraft java edition, @s stands for "current entity" and works only if you type in chat.

Is there any other way to use the current entity on command block? @s doesn't work there.

Minecraft input keys glitch in creative

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 10:03 AM PDT

Recently, when working in my creative world, I have encountered a bug where, after a while of playing (~1h roughly), the keys are "randomised". Essentially, when I press W, it drops an item. When I press something like S it does something else. This only happens in creative mode, and I can't find any answers online about this. I didn't mess around with key binds.

It happens both on regular and with Optifine. When the glitch occurs, other apps and games work just fine.

How can I use /fill or /setblock to change an entire door without destroying either part of it? (1.16.5)

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 02:02 PM PDT

I'm trying to replace the top half of the door with a trap door and the bottom with another trap door of a different type.

The problem though, is that one segment of the door always seems to break, even if /fill is used. Using /fill to make it all air or all of one trap door type and then switching it over doesn't work either.

I've tried about 20 different combinations of command block/position orders and nothing seems to work.

Is there any way to get rid of the 'infinity' button in Cookie Clicker?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 04:08 PM PDT

I let my friend use my computer, and she wanted to play cookie clicker after I showed her. I left to go to the bathroom, and when I came back, she had hacked the game so it said infinity in the place where the number of cookies usually goes. Please help!

How do you get rocket boots in Candy Box 2?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:04 PM PDT

I've looked about everywhere and can't find them. I've checked the witches place, merchant, blacksmith, the mountain pass, the hole, and the ocean, though I can't get too far in the ocean because of my health. I want to use them to pass over the gates to the castle. Does anyone know where they are? I can't find any questions for them.

How do I create these seemingly missing building block shapes in 7 Days to Die?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:02 PM PDT

I have a problem with searching for some shapes used in 7DTD map buildings. Yes, I know the shape menu but I can't find the required shapes. For example, how can I (is it even possible?) create a block which is missing in the top left position on the image below?

The same question but another building block. Is it possible to make the right rim side half size?

How to view the contents of another persons enderchest?

My Command blocks are stuck in a certain mode

Every current command block being placed is stuck in impulse. It is also stuck to being always active, and every command is unconditional. So that means no command will work. This is affecting every world I have.

How can I make WorldEdit ignore water?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:05 PM PDT

Is there a way to like ignore water in WorldEdit? If you want to edit the terrain under deep water you will just edit the water instead.

I'm almost sure you can remove the water then edit the terrain then fill back to water but is that really the only choice?

I'm playing in Minecraft 1.16.1!

What are the strongest combinations of Pantheon Spirits for AFK?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:05 PM PDT

In Cookie Clicker, there is a Pantheon that lets you slot Spirits to get bonuses. I would like to know which Spirits are best for an AFK/low attention build and where they should be slotted.

Right now, I have Mokalsium (milk power up) in Diamond, Skruuia (wrinkler power up) in Ruby, and Holobore (base CPS up) in Jade. I assume these three are the best for AFK builds, but I do not know if their slotting is as optimal as it could be, which is what led me to asking this question.

As for my run, I am currently in what I assume to be the end game. I have 377/439 for achievements and my current CPS (without wrinklers) is 221.526 undecillion.

Is there anyway to refill a repair tool outside of a garage?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:38 PM PDT

There's a few a truck attachment which allow your vehicles to performs repairs on themselves and other vehicles. Doing so works similar to the refueling attachments, where each repair has a fixed number of repair it can use before it runs out. For a refueling tank you can always refill it at a gas station, or just with another vehicle. So far I haven't found anyway to refill a repair attachment outside of returning to a garage.

Is there any way to refill a repair attachment outside of a garage?

Can I move my Minecraft account from an iPad to a laptop running Windows 10?

Posted: 31 Oct 2021 01:06 AM PDT

I purchased and downloaded Minecraft 1.14 for my son some time ago - this was on his iPad - but he now wants to play on his laptop, which is running Windows 10. I have downloaded Minecraft: Java Edition for Windows onto the laptop and followed the instructions on the launcher. However, when I started the program and signed in with his account details, I couldn't access the game without having to pay again.

I have read somewhere that this may be because his account was purchased via the App Store on the iPad and this isn't transferred across to Windows, which seems strange, since I can still log into his account.

Any ideas?

How can I find the cause of lag in my singleplayer world in Minecraft?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:44 PM PDT

I have been playing on a single world for the last 3 years and the world has became more and more laggier as I build farms, redstone machines, structures around spawn. Now I can't even get 40 FPS in that world but the other worlds that have less structures are fine (I can get 100-120 FPS). How can I find the entities or blocks that cause most lag so I can remove them?

How do the round systems work?

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 10:22 AM PDT

Seeing some preview matches of Teamfight Tactics, it seems the round system is not like in Autochess. In auto chess, the round are just a number, where in TFT it seems to use a 'Mario Bros' system.

Rounds are like 1-1,2-3,5-4, etc.

So what are the max number of rounds in a 'chapter' (to keep the Mario Bros analogy) and what is the logic for passing from a chapter to another?

Is it a fixed number of rounds per chapter (If so, how much?) , or does an event finish the chapter?

How does the Abyssal Armour interact with the "Wolf kill", "Witch kill", and dying because of other reasons?

How does the Abyssal Armour (AA) interact with the "Wolf kill", "Witch kill", and dying because of other reasons?

Alternatively, how does night immunity relate to dying because of other reasons than the two mentioned kill types?

Is Pokemon Sun and Moon vip and guest list tied to the cartridge?

Posted: 31 Oct 2021 03:56 AM PDT

If I put my Pokemon Moon game into a different 3DS than the one I started filling the VIP and guest list on, will my game's VIP and guest list be the same on the new 3DS, or will they be lost? (Like how in Pokemon X and Y changing the 3DS would forget all friends.)
