Testing for if an item entity has an ID matching a list of item names

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 06:08 PM PDT

I am making a datapack that uses copper as a fuel, however part of that means that I need to be able to test an item when it is on the ground to see if it is one of the 37 copper items. I have already been able to make a #tags list that I have called #copper, enter image description here which works as intended.

The problem is, I have found no way of matching an entity against the tag. I was sent towards predicates, however I was unable to get it to accept multiple items or matched NBT to tags.

Here is the predicate I created using an online generator, but while the predicate appears in-game, it always returns false.

  { "condition": "minecraft:entity_properties", "entity": "this", "predicate": { "nbt": "{Item:{id:\"minecraft:copper_ingot\"}}" } }, { "condition": "minecraft:entity_properties", "entity": "this", "predicate": { "nbt": "{Item:{id:\"minecraft:copper_block\"}}" } }, { "condition": "minecraft:entity_properties", "entity": "this", "predicate": { "nbt": "{Item:{id:\"minecraft:raw_copper\"}}" } } ]

As an additional problem, I know I will also need to check a list a return a number based on what item I find. ie, "copper_ingot" returns 1, "copper_block" returns 9. For this problem I have no idea where to even begin.

Replaceitem not working on Bedrock

Is there a way for me to toggle sprinting in Minecraft 1.8.9?

Posted: 22 Mar 2022 12:20 AM PDT

In 1.8 PVP it's important that you stay sprinting even after getting hit, which requires you to hold down the sprint button, but most of my fingers are busy the whole time, and holding sprint is either impractical or uncomfortable, so I need the option to be able to press the sprint key once, and have Minecraft assume I want to continue sprinting forever even after getting hit until I hit it again. Is this possible in 1.8.9?

Will using an NPC co-op sign allow other players to invade me?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 06:49 PM PDT

Elden Ring appears to use a fairly distinct formula for when you can be invaded by other players. If I understand the Fextralife wiki page on PvP correctly, you can only be invaded by a player if:

  • You're currently in a co-op session, and not already invaded (because the invader cap is normally 1).
  • You're already being invaded, and you used a taunter's tongue to raise the invader cap to 2.
  • You used a taunter's tongue to invite invaders even without co-op.

Naturally engaging in a duel also involves other players, but I'm less concerned about that scenario since I have to manually engage in it.

It's pretty clear to me that inviting another human player for co-op via a summon sign will open me up to invasion, but what's not clear for me is this: does summoning an NPC for co-op open me up to invaders? For example, if I summon Nepheli Loux for assistance, am I liable to be invaded by a player?

I ask this mainly prompted by the discovery of a new invader exploit on PC. I'd like to stay in online mode, but I want to know when I'm opening myself up to an exploit so that I can ensure my saves are backed up before someone messes with them.

Are these summaries of the history of the Digital World of the Cyber Sleuth games correct?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 09:24 AM PDT

Is this description of a game's Digital World, talking about the Cyber Sleuth games, correct?

One new game takes the theory that Digimon and the Digital World always existed, and computers are merely the newest gateway; shamans and occultists could previously summon Digimon.

This reddit comment seems to indicate that's possibly right:

in the video Game digimon cyber sleuth, the digital world always existed and the evolution of human technology allowed them to travel there.

Are both of those descriptions accurate, if the first description is talking about the Cyber Sleuth games? Did pre-"modern day" humans summon Digimon in the Cyber Sleuth games, but human-travel into the Digital World was only unlocked by "modern" technology?

Bedrock to FabricMC world conversion

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 09:20 AM PDT

I am attempting to migrate my Bedrock server to FabricMC which will have Bedrock support using GeyserMC, and I would like to have all my client data in the new FabricMC server. But I am unsure if this is possible.

I have made multiple Google queries but I have found nothing regarding this topic of data retention during conversion.

What file type are Elden Ring saves?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 06:43 AM PDT

Elden Ring deleted my character and I need to access a backup that I deleted. I know how to use photorec, but I'd like to avoid grabbing everything and the kitchen sink. What filetype are Elden Ring saves as could be identified by Photorec?

Can I change how I say no?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 10:32 AM PDT

When creating a character at the start of Say No! More, you get the option to choose the voice and language your character uses to shout "No!" at people. Is there a way to change how I say no after creating my character?

Fallout 4 chemistry workstation - background image used for reflections

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 02:42 AM PDT

I've only noticed this today: when the chemical station appeared in the grey-backed loading screen, there appeared to be a transparent image used on the inside of the Florence flask (the big round one at the corner of the worktable).

I managed to capture an example in-game, but it's far easier to see in the loading screen.

Does anybody know what (or where) the image is of? Or how to find the original in the game data?

To me it looks like a 360 degree image taken on the bank of a river, of a town with white buildings and dark red roofs. It does appear to rotate as you move your character around the flask.

Fallout 4 chemistry station, zoomed in on the Florence flask

The image does not appear to be a reflection of the world around the character, as I took this photo in Diamond City.

So far in my own research, I have found out that the flask type is called a Florence flask (or a boiling flask). Searches on Google images for "fallout 4 chemistry station image in flask" and "fallout 4 chemistry station Florence flask background image" (and others) have not proven very useful.

Replicating Transparency Glitch in Minecraft

Posted: 22 Mar 2022 12:09 AM PDT

I remember early Minecraft having a graphical glitch where certain transparent objects were not rendered through other transparent objects. For instance, in this bug report water is not rendered correctly through glass. I launched 1.16.1 in the current Minecraft launcher and was not able to replicate the effect with a similar setup of water and glass blocks.

I would like to replicate this bug for a demonstration about z-buffers. Any advice would be appreciated!

Do classes in KOTOR 2 stack?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 09:16 AM PDT

Every (few) levels depending on your class you can choose a certain amount of skills/force powers.

For example: A Jedi Consular gets 2 force powers every 3 levels (and 1 every other level)

But a prestige class like a Jedi Weapon Master gets only 1 every level.

So if I choose to become a Jedi Weapon Master do i lose the extra force power every 3 levels or does it mix? (that i get the best of both worlds or do i fully become a weapon master?)

Does an active radio aid stealth in Fallout 4?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 09:33 AM PDT

To be clear:

  • I am not asking about listening to the radio on the Pip-Boy.
  • I am also not asking about the HAM radios.
  • I am asking about stationary radios, already activated, found throughout the wasteland, and whether or not they affect an enemy's ability to detect the sole survivor. Another way of asking might be, "Do non-Pip-Boy radios distract enemies?" or "Do regular radios hinder enemy perception?"

Checking out Carl's Fallout 4 Guide, the entry regarding noise says:

Like above, gunshots without silencers/suppressors will make a lot of noise, and alert others to your presence.

As a test, I have both shot into the ground and shot vertically into the sky, both alerting enemies the same. This suggests that gunshots affect the detection mechanic auditorily, not as a result of movement or item collision (bullet impacting the ground; bullet traveling through the air).

Further down, Carl notes:

All of these contribute based on the Perception of the enemy you're sneaking up on. They may have better hearing and vision, or even sense of smell as with the Wasteland's wildlife. Certain foes have horrible perception, like Ghouls. Others, like Deathclaws - and even worse - Yao Guai, have very high perception. Human opponents that you encounter when your level rises - the harder ones - will have higher perception than a basic raider. Their senses are generally not as in tune as that of beasts, but they tend to be more intelligent and patrol.

Clearly, noise is experienced by enemies (or at least the appearance of such is given). While these are helpful insights, Carl makes no mention of stationary radios. Similarly, the Fandom page for these radios was also vacant of relevant information.

This question asks whether using the Pip-Boy radio alerts enemies to the sole survivor's presence. The accepted answer and at least one comment, as well as personal experience, all indicate that the inhabitants of the wasteland are oblivious to the sole survivor's Pip-Boy radio.

My wondering in regard to this, though, is whether this is a localized immunity to detection or a universal phenomenon applied to all radios. If it is universal, then great - question answered (no, an active radio does not aid stealth). If it is not, then the question remains.

This question asks what affects how fast the sole survivor is spotted by enemies. Though the accepted answer here also touches on enemy perception and loud weapons, as well as noting the lack of effect by the Pip-Boy, the answer does not elaborate any further than already discussed.

Does saving and logging out of an account reset its progress?

I want to make a new account without deleting my current one, so if I save my progress and log out do I lose all progress when logging out?

Why did the game shout DELETE IMMEDIATELY at me?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 05:06 AM PDT

Sometime around Day 20 of Needy Streamer Overload, the screen went dark and displayed "DELETE IMMEDIATELY" on the screen multiple times. I then got screaming texts from Ame before the game reset itself.

Why did the game start shouting "DELETE IMMEDIATELY"?

DELETE IMMEDIATELY repeated several times

How to make a trident reach further underwater in Java Minecraft?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 01:41 PM PDT

I'm looking for ways to make a trident reach farther underwater in Java Minecraft. Currently, I think the grind was way too hard to get a very mediocre underwater boost, compared to just swimming with depth strider 3. Additionally, as a weapon, a sword is just infinitely better due to knockback and looting. Instead, the enchantment seems more like it's only intended to launch you out of water. So far, I've come up with 2 ideas:

  1. Spawn in a trident with a higher-than-allowed level of riptide. This works, but has the drawback of launching you much higher out of water too, becoming lethal if you aim wrong.
  2. Give players holding a riptide 3 trident dolphin's grace. The low friction effect is precisely what I'm looking for, but it's still faster to just use the dolphin's grace speed boost to swim when combined with depth stider.

Ideally, the effect only applies when launching yourself, not also when just holding the trident, but right-click detection methods are a bit too hacky for me, I prefer to keep it simple. I would optimally remove the speed boost effect from dolphin's grace and keep the friction reduction.

I'm currently using a self-made datapack implementing the second idea, but it's far too overpowered. I now have to remove my depth strider boots before going swimming. Is there any better way to achieve the intended behaviour, potentially with a plugin rather than a datapack? Perhaps it would be possible to lower the water friction though other means than dolphin's grace?

Proper NBT structure file path/names?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 07:04 PM PDT

What is the proper name of the files/folders necessary to replace structures, specifically the swamp hut and the mineshaft. For the swamp hut, I know it is called a swamp_temple so I named both the file and the folder that, but it still does not seem to work. I tried swamp_hut and swamp_temple (both with and without the space), both inside and out of a folder etc.

And I assume the mineshaft is something weird like the woodland mansion rooms. I tried "tunnel", which did not work, and gave up.

After hours of research, I cannot find any lists anywhere

Edit, I have renamed the file to something I know works, and I can confirm my NBT file works if I get the name right.

How can I learn the Backstab enchantment in Skyrim through the console?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 09:03 AM PDT

I want to learn the backstab enchantment via the console, but none of the items that have it can be disenchanted, so I can't simply spawn it in. How do I learn the enchantment directly? The code for the enchantment is ff15c.

Clarification: playerenchantobject is not the command I am looking for. I am asking how to learn enchants that cannot be disenchanted, I am not asking about how to enchant things via console. When you enchant from console, there are many things you cannot do, such as renaming the item, proper enchantment scaling, and adjusting the amount of charge a weapon has.

Second clarification: player.additem refid [enchantment id] is NOT the syntax of the command, please test the command before answering the question.

Is there a way to see what status effects do?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 02:22 PM PDT

I've just started the game, but I already have a lot of different status effects. I'm talking about these icons under the stamina bar:

status effects

Is there a way to see in-game what these do? If I remember correctly, remake has a nice help screen where all icons were explained. Is there anything similar in Elden Ring?

I play on PS5 if it makes any difference.

EDIT: Of cause I can use wiki, but I would prefer to have some in-game info as well. Demon's Souls remake has this page, but looks like this was just a QoL addition from Bluepoint Games: enter image description here

When does Katrina offer purification after bad luck in ACNH?

Posted: 22 Mar 2022 02:12 AM PDT

I have got bad luck from Katrina several times now, but she never offer me purification services. What am I doing wrong? Does purification needs to be unblocked or am I missing some dialog option?

How does coop progression work in Dying Light?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 02:51 PM PDT

Is there any official guide to how this works? It seems as if the player with least progress needs to host, then both will progress -- but does it apply to sidequests? What about items, earned XP and skill points?

How would I add an Item to Minecraft with mcp-reborn?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 12:24 PM PDT

I am learning how to mod Minecraft, so I have very little experience with this yet (I have already made some resource packs). I am using MCP Reborn but I'm open to better suggestions. I have already decompiled and have been messing around with this for a couple of months but to no avail. I have already created the textures for this item.
Could someone please help me with this? (Minecraft Java Edition 1.17.1) (note: I do not want my mod to be dependent on other programs like forge.)

Can Minecraft: Java Edition be opened using the Terminal on MacOS?

Posted: 22 Mar 2022 12:07 AM PDT

I play Minecraft Java Edition, but the launcher takes too long to load.

Is it possible to use a command on my macOS's Terminal to manually launch Minecraft?

Is it possible to preserve explored map progress when deleting chunks from the savefile/uploading it to a server?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 07:07 AM PDT

The situation is that I need to set up a server to host a game previously was only local.
I tried hamachi, but it disconnects immediately (I blame the intercontinental lag since it works otherwise, but if you think it is something else, let's talk in chat). As a consequence, now I'm trying with minehut.

As we like to explore, the save was beyond 2gb, so I trimmed it with MCAselector.

Now my question: we had made a giant map wall. After the trim, if I load the world locally, the map wall shows as before, but if I upload the save to minehut and log into the server, the maps are either missing or wrong/garbled.

I tried uploading the individual map_###.dat files and for some maps it helped, but not all.
Is there a way to preserve those maps? or should I give up and re-explore everything?

How can I get the Snowball artifact?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 11:07 PM PDT

The wiki lists the Snowball as coming from one of the "other stages", specifically the "Christmas" stage. I haven't seen that stage anywhere. How can I play that stage? Can I get that artifact any other way, like as a reward from completing a Beyond quest?

Which game first introduced the concept of weapon recoil?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 06:43 PM PDT

Context

This morning while watching a video of Wolfenstein 3D from 1992 and Doom (1993) I noticed that weapons don't need to be compensated for any recoil. Then on my trip down memory lane I watched a Half Life (1998) video and there, automatic weapons at least seemed to have some form of recoil.

There must have been something happening in between that introduced this feature into the game design of FPS, that is almost ubiquitous nowadays.

Definition of recoil

For the definition of recoil, I will use the definition used in the Counter Strike wiki, which I found to be a good summary of what I thought it is:

Recoil is the backward momentum of a gun when it is discharging bullets and causes players' screens to "shake". This often causes the shooter to sway away from their intended target after the first shot due to the momentum "kicking" the shooter's aim. The higher the recoil, the more the screen will vibrate.

To which I will add a picture to illustrate (CSGO recoil pattern of AK47):

CSGO AK47 bullet spray

My question

This led me to wonder:

Which game introduced this concept of recoil when shooting and thus the compensation necessary to be accurate while shooting say, full auto or rapidly, in a FPS ?

Overlord runs the wrong version

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 11:08 AM PDT

Every time I try to run Overlord on Steam, Overlord: Raising Hell runs, and I honestly don't know what to do.

I have already tried to verify the cache, and have also performed a clean reinstall of both games. When I run Raising hell, it simply runs Raising hell, as expected.

How do I run the original Overlord with Overlord: Raising Hell installed?

Creating Key Bindings for an Xbox One controller on Mac

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 12:07 PM PDT

I am really looking for a way to create key binding for an xbox one controller connected to a Mac. I know this is kind of a weird request, but I really want to try playing Guild Wars 2 with a controller. While, granted, it is probably better to use a keyboard and mouse, I really want to try it with a controller, but this game does not support a controller. I was wondering if there was any way to create key bindings to the Xbox One Controller buttons. For instance: left stick as WASD and ABXY for 1234. Combinations would be helpful as well, like Rt + A = 5, and that sort of thing. I have a driver for the controller, but that is only useful for compatible games on steam and OS X. I am currently using Xone-OSX from FranticRain on Github, but am open to other programs. Thanks in advance!

Who is the purple man?

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 11:05 PM PDT

In many of the minigames there's a purple man who does very evil things. In the feed the kids minigame he is seen pulling up in a purple car, killing a child, then driving away. In another scene, he is seen telling Foxy to go out to the stage, but when Foxy gets there, there are 5 small skulls. There's another where Freddy Fazbear has to stop the Purple Man, but the game crashes and says "no you can't".

Who is he?

Ideal spots to farm minions

Posted: 21 Mar 2022 11:15 AM PDT

I'm kind of in a tight spot with Overlord at the moment.

I have to do a water-based dungeon, but my Blues count is awfully low.

Where can I farm each type of minion to get that count right back up when I need it? I know for browns you just massacre every sheep in sight, but where (in what areas, most particularly) do I go if I want Reds, Greens or Blues?
