ISO/IEC 13818-3 - Does apple iTunes have documentation on standards for audio file's uploaded for streaming and the iTunes store

Posted: 08 May 2021 08:51 PM PDT

Documentation related to the ISO/IEC 13818-3 standard. The standard for information technology, generic coding of moving pictures, and associated audio information systems.

I would like to know before coding and modifying audio files such as .mp4 files submitted to the iTunes store or other media type's such as Podcasts, that it applies to Apple's media standards.

  • Or is there a universal pre-processing stage Apple implements when such audio files are submitted to iTunes?

So far I have only found a utility set that allows conversion from .wav files to .mp4 by iTunes. Would be nice to know what these conditions these droplet files and scripts provide, specification-wise.

As of 2Q2021 is any osx email client besidesOutlook that allows use of public shared folders in exchange?

Well, question summarizes it. I like some other email clients better than Outlook but none seems to be able to access the public shared folders in our Exchange server.

A way to reverse changes done to a txt file in documents.app (readdle)?

Posted: 08 May 2021 09:10 PM PDT

I've got a huge problem. Major. I dearly hope that someone has a solution.

I wanted to open a txt file on my iPhone/iOS. When I clicked the file in iOS file app, it opened up in Documents app automatically. I then before I knew it managed to overwrite some codes/passwords I had saved in the txt file. Stuff I cannot remember. I then closed the documents app and thought no harm done, as I can just open the txt file and repeat the previous procedure. But ... When I clicked to open it, and it automatically opened up in documents app...the changes were still there, as it apparently saved all changes done. And now I can't seem to find any option to reverse and open up the original version of the txt file, before I accidentally changed a few passwords.

I do appreciate all the help I can get.

I mean, open up a document and writing something, and no option to go back to original, nor any option to make changes reverse. Kinda stupid. The app apparently saves any changes done and that's it. But there got to be a way to reverse the action somehow?

Thanks

How can I run `SteerMouse` again from the command line and working well? [closed]

I need this because sometimes it stops working, and
want to work it again easily!

I can kill and run the SteerMouse Manager again from the command line, but the functions don't work well when it's reopened.

I'm trying this following the question on here. Restarting sound service?

Kill the process is working well.

sudo kill -9 `ps ax|grep 'SteerMouse Manager'

Opening the process is not nice and just trying. Please let me know If you know a good way.

open '/Users/algorist/Library/PreferencePanes/SteerMouse.prefPane/Contents/Library/LoginItems/SteerMouse Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/SteerMouse Manager'

It opens the process but steermouse's functions don't work at all.

The way to steermouse work again is just open again steermouse pref pane in system preference.

Please help. I need this because sometimes it stops working, and want to work it again easily!

What could trigger low *data* mode on a iPhone besides the manual switch?

Posted: 08 May 2021 09:45 PM PDT

Something is enabling low data mode on wifi on my iPhone(s) from time to time. I usually only notice when I see apps not updating or when I install or want to update an app. It then asks "Are you sure because of xx MB?".

I use (automated) shortcuts in my daily life, but low data mode isn't even an option via shortcuts, only low power mode, which does not trigger low data mode switch inside the wifi profile. My shortcuts do control airplane mode and wifi switch, but I am at loss how any combo's of that could result in low data mode.

Does anyone have any idea what could enable wifi low data mode?

Additional remarks:

  • low data mode is also a switch somewhere under mobile data, this question is not about that switch; only the wifi variant.)
  • low power mode is not active when I encounter this state so the battery icon is green.

Is there a way to move home controls in control center?

Posted: 08 May 2021 04:59 PM PDT

I enabled home controls in control center. I have 6 favorites that display in control center. However, I use them less frequently than the custom control center items that appear below them (just off screen on a second gen iPhone SE). It's really annoying to have to scroll to turn on the flashlight, which I use all the time.

Is there any way to either:

  1. move the home controls to the bottom?
  2. Add alternative home controls (like via Siri shortcut or something) amongst the custom items below (I.e. with the official "home controls disabled)?
  3. At least show only 1 row of home controls (like the big button and 2 favorites) or will a second row be filled in with frequent items?

Add a Service to an Application, not General

Posted: 08 May 2021 04:32 PM PDT

I have a script that I'd like to show up in the Services menu of the QuickTime app.

I already know how to make scripts show up in the "General" section of Services, which makes them available in every app. And know macOS comes with categories of Services in System Preferences.

Is there a way to assign a custom script to a single application?

Moving files from a Broken iMac

Posted: 08 May 2021 08:26 PM PDT

My 2013 iMac crashed and I can't access it any form. Not Safe Mode or Recovery. I removed the drive and want to access some of the files. It's old and was slated for replacement later this year. Should I be able to mount the drive on a different Mac and see its file structure, assuming the disk is okay?

Update:

Output from diskutil list, after attaching HDD as an external drive to another Mac.

Gifting/sharing app to Family child's iPad without App Sharing?

Posted: 08 May 2021 08:44 PM PDT

I'm seeing apps, through my own iPhone/iPad, that I'd like to get on to my son's iPad. I'd just like to somehow beam them over there, or download on my device and share with his. Is there a way to do this?

I don't need to become the sole buyer of apps on his and his mother's devices again, like my understanding of Purchase Sharing.

I set up Family Sharing a while ago. There's me, my son and my partner. It's pretty locked-down for the child.

Initially, I set up Purchase Sharing, but I undid that when I realised it simply made me the sole purchaser for apps bought by both him and his mother. That wasn't necessary. Instead, I set up a family bank card against the child's account and required permission for all purchases.

sudo: /private/etc/sudoers.d is owned by uid 501 should be 0 - unable to run sudo commands on terminal (SOLVED)

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:08 PM PDT

When I Run Any Sudo Commands I get:

sudo: /private/etc/sudoers.d is owned by uid 501, should be 0 sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting sudo: error initializing audit plugin sudoers_audit

This behavior starts at a failed mongodb installation and increased by the last 11.3.1 big sur update. Several Apps Crashing. I did a little research and some people recommends starts in safe mode and run:

chown root:wheel /etc/sudoers

But i forgotten (by now) the firmware password. So when i try to run any init shortcut prompts for the firmware password.

This script works for me to have sudo commands but only when its running:

do shell script "chown root:wheel /etc/sudoers; chmod 440 /etc/sudoers; chmod -N /etc/sudoers" with administrator privileges

would this command fix it? : sudo chown -R root:wheel /private/etc/sudoers.d

Change/Add calendar in-alert options

Posted: 08 May 2021 08:33 PM PDT

When I get a Calendar alert/notification there are two in-alert options : Snooze and Join. Is it possible to add another option from the Services / Quick Actions?

I've added a script in Services by the name of Open in Zoom which I would like to appear in the options and it will open the URL associated with the alert in Zoom app that I've got installed. Presently, the way I do that is to go to the event in Calendar and right click on the URL and choose Services ---> Open in Zoom.

I'm using a MBA M1 with macOS Big Sur 11.2.3.

What causes the late 2012/late 2013 27" iMac to be suddenly stuck at 1280x720 resolution?

Posted: 08 May 2021 06:35 PM PDT

1280x720 is the only option available "Default for display" is 720p, and 1280 x 720 is the only "Scaled" resolution available

Many users have asked this question, but nobody seems to know the answer. Mine just did it last week, and I took it to Apple today; diagnostics showed that everything was working correctly.

The following solutions are confirmed to not work:

  • Resetting SMC/PRAM (multiple times)
  • Booting into safe mode
  • Clean install of Mac OS X/macOS
  • Booting into Windows (Boot Camp, presumably) on the Mac
  • Replacing the LCD data cable

Other things I've tried:

  • An external 1440p monitor connected to the iMac will work at its native resolution (ruling out GPU issue)

iMac 27" 2009 works at 1440p Late 2009 iMac 27" in Target Display Mode works as an external display via Mini DisplayPort cable

  • Using the iMac as a monitor for another Mac via Target Display Mode (TDM) works at the iMac's native 1440p resolution (ruling out internal LCD/data cable connection issue).

27" iMac running at 1440p via TDM Late 2012 iMac 27" connected to mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro 15"

  • Booting off of a live Ubuntu USB drive boots up with no display unless the nomodeset boot argument is used, which then allows Ubuntu to display at 720p

  • Exporting the EDID using SwitchResX shows that the EDID is not corrupt, and appears identical when exporting from the iMac itself and from another Mac when it is connected in TDM (Pastebin)

  • Setting the resolution to 2560x1440 using SwitchResX will allow the UI to appear as 1440p should, but the rendered resolution is still 720p (in other words, it looks like 720p at 0.5x scaling)

One user has fixed it after a PSU and SSD install procedure caused snowy display, by reconnecting the LCD data cable. But this isn't applicable to those who encountered the issue on the iMac from when it was relatively new, i.e. never pulled apart before (first couple of Apple Discussions links) or if the LCD data cable was replaced entirely (Ask Different link)

Does anyone have any further insight into this problem?

Update: 800x600 has mysteriously appeared as the only other available resolution.

how does this even happen

What has caused the CTRL + x + e shortcut to stop working in the shell?

Posted: 08 May 2021 11:50 PM PDT

The CTRL+x+e keyboard shortcut allows you to open your favorite editor, as defined in the $EDITOR shell environment variable.

This has stopped working for me recently, but I am not sure what changed.

I have $EDITOR in my .zshrc set to VS Code like so:

export EDITOR='code'

Previous(Expected) Behavior

Earlier, triggering the above shortcut in zsh on iTerm2:

  1. It would open a tab in an active VS Code window.
  2. It would allow me to type my long command.
  3. I would then close the tab, VS Code would ask if I wanted to save the file, I would click on No and it would return to the zsh tab with the long command already entered.
  4. I just had to press the RETURN key then for running the pasted command.

Actual Behavior:

Now, if I follow the same steps as above, the typed command is no longer entered in the zsh shell, even though the VS Code tab closes.

Environment specs:

macOS Big Sur - 11.2.2

VS Code - 1.55.2

iTerm2 - 3.4.4

zsh - 5.8

Note:

I could replicate the same erroneous behavior on the natively-available Terminal app.

Has anyone else faced this problem? Could someone help please?

Windows and Mac in same workgroup can't connect to each other in map network drive

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:26 PM PDT

I am setting up some Macs for a friend to monitor with a Windows 10 computer. They are all on the workgroup "HOMESCHOOL" but for some reason when in map network drive I can't find the Macs. I am way too frustrated about this but I have turned to Stack Exchange.

More information:

  • The Macs are using Cloudflare's DNS server (1.1.1.1) but the Windows computer is not. (Could that be the problem?)
  • The Windows computer stops responding every time I type \\a-mac.hsd1.co.comcast.net
  • Both computers start with 192.168.x.x

How to delete hidden login iterms from backgrounditems.btm? CML way is prefered

Posted: 08 May 2021 11:03 PM PDT

I am running MacOS Big Sur. I installed some apps downloaded online. I found out many apps were started automatically at startup.

By googling and examining my system, I figured out they were started from the file backgrounditems.btm which is located at ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.backgroundtaskmanagementagent/. The file stores Login Items.

By running a python script downloaded online, I can see many Login Items registerd in the file backgrounditems.btm and they are NOT shown in System Preferences > Users > myuser > Login Iterms.

I tried the command osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to delete login item "name"' to delete the hidden login iterm, but failed with error message "36:73: execution error: System Events got an error: Can't get login item "myapp.app". (-1728)"

These hidden login iterms are also NOT shown when I use the command osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get the name of every login item'.

So my question is how to remove those unwanted login iterms to stop them autostart at my login. Command Line Way is prefered. I think some GUI apps such as ccleaner may do the job, but I don't want to install some GUI apps which may be autostarted themselves. Basically, I don't want to install an autostart iterm to remove autostart items.

Thanks a lot.

Update

I figured out the file is in a binary plist format.

Then I tried two tools.

One is the default cml tool plutil. Another one is a thirdy party tool ProperTree. Both can convert and open the binary plist as XML plain plist. But even with a plain plist format, it's kinda hard to understand it. The important sections are still coded in base64 format in xml.

I can decode base64 with many tools, but I still feel it's kinda too much work for this purpose. Do anyone know any easier way to remove hidden login iterms from the file? Thanks.

Can mac os support greater than 2x retina (for a small 4k screen)?

Posted: 08 May 2021 03:05 PM PDT

I'm interested in a 4k portable monitor which is 14" in size.

I believe it is mainly intended for use with iOS/Android, however it does say supports mac/win.

The concern I have is that even at the familiar maximum 2x scaling, which we call retina resolution, 14" at "looks like" 1920x1080 will result in very small ui. To compound the problem in this case, this display is touch, too; which is likely to make finger accuracy an issue.

Does or can mac os support greater than 2x retina? How are the supported resolutions for a display defined? Is this something apple does, or does the manufacturer do it; can a user adjust it without going too low level?

Latest Windows 10 update (March 2021) broke Bluetooth on mid-2014 MacBook Pro Retina

Posted: 08 May 2021 09:30 PM PDT

Running Windows 10 on Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro Retina from mid-2014 (with Catalina, if that makes a difference). Bluetooth was working fine till last night. Today it installed a system update and Bluetooth is no longer working on Windows.

In Settings, it says Bluetooth is on and lists all the paired devices (currently only a Voxon mouse). I use a Belkin numeric keypad as well, but when I noticed it wasn't working I removed the device from the list thinking I could just add it again. Big mistake. Now my computer can't find the keypad when I click on "Add Bluetooth or other device". The keypad is literally right next to my Mac and has newly charged batteries. I also tried with a different pair of batteries at about half charge, so it isn't that. It works perfectly with macOS.

My mouse doesn't work either despite it showing up on the list of paired devices (again, tried changing the batteries without success). Again, works with macOS.

I thought it was a driver problem, but I can't find a list of drivers for Belkin keypads on Belkin's website, Apple's website or Google. All the Google results I can find for BlueTooth issues on Windows on Boot Camp are from 2016 or earlier and terribly outdated.

Thanks for any help.

Edit:

Tried uninstalling the system updates (Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates > Microsoft Windows). It showed three updates:

  • "Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.860"
  • "Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5000802)"
  • "Feature Update to Windows 10 20H2 via Enablement Package something something something"

It would only let me uninstall the latter two. Bluetooth still not working.

Another edit (07 May 2021):

Restoring a previous OS version didn't work.

A few weeks after I reported the problem here, the computer decided to detect BlueTooth devices properly again (no updates in the meantime). This lasted for a few weeks before the problem spontaneously appeared again (no updates in the meantime). It's been like that, a few weeks on and a few weeks off, since then.

Uninitialized external hard drive fix

Posted: 08 May 2021 11:44 PM PDT

I plugged my hard drive as usual and it does not mount. I go into Disk Utility it tells me that there are 2 parts to my hard drive.

The first part is titled AppleAPFSMedia and is uninitialized. I have tried using First Aid on it, but it just fails.

The second part showing in Disk Utility is titled APFS Physical Store disk1s2 and is saying not mounted. I clicked on the Mount option in Disk Utility and it does nothing. I also ran First Aid on it and it said that it was successful and then I tried clicking on Mount again with no luck.

I have done a google search on this and it seems to be the only answer is to format the drive to that it initializes. That means I would lose all the data, which of course I do not.

Here is the output from the First Aid Disk Utility:

Running First Aid on "" (disk2s2) Repairing storage system Performing fsck_apfs -y -x /dev/disk2s2 Checking the container superblock. Checking the space manager. I found a guide online using something on GitHub https://matt.sh/apfs-object-map-free-recovery but I could not understand how it works.

Any advice other than formatting it or purchasing iBoysoft software?

Troubleshoot slow Big Sur wired network

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:05 PM PDT

The wired network on my iMac is uncomfortably slow. Google's speed test (just for one quick and easy metric) frequently dips down to about 1 Mbps for downloads. A separate laptop on the same network at the same time, but through WiFi, will consistently show 250 Mbps.

Sometimes connecting the iMac to WiFi seems to improve speeds a bit. Sometimes they improve on their own. In any case the iMac never sees more than half the speeds a laptop does.

This is a new problem immediately after upgrading to Big Sur (i.e., no other changes to the system or network). I'm therefore assuming this is something to do with macOS. But I am at a loss to even begin to know how to troubleshoot the problem.

What in macOS can I check or tweak or investigate to get any handle on what's even happening, much less how to fix it?

Why am I getting bad distortion on my MacBook Pro 15, mid 2015 right speaker?

Posted: 08 May 2021 07:06 PM PDT

My MacBook Pro 15, mid 2015, has bad distortion on the right speaker. Headphones and bluetooth are fine, and when I use the Audio MIDI utility to swap channels it stays on the right speaker. I installed another right speaker I bought online, but the problem persists. Neither speaker had a broken cone, and the distortion sounds more electronic anyway.

Either:

  1. I got a replacement speaker with the same problem. Since it was used, this is possible but seems unlikely given that my searches online don't suggest that this is a common problem.
  2. I somehow managed to get the old one I removed mixed up with the new one, and put the old one back in. Possible as I'm a old fart, but I labeled the old one as "bad" to avoid this, and the one in my junk box is labeled "bad". Tho still possible that it was the labeling where I spaced out, but would require me to have been even more of a screw up than I usually am.
  3. There is some sort of preamp on the sound/mother/other board that has blown.
  4. There is some sort of software issue that is overdriving some amp somewhere.

I can solve #2 by doing the swap again, but it required more futzing inside the case than I like to do, always worried my fat fingers are going to break something else when I have to go that deep. Maybe it's possible to just plug the bad-labeled speaker in to test it, but I hate actually booting the thing with the back off.

It was pretty cheap, tho I don't recall where I got it, so if I could eliminate #2, #3, and 4, I'll just buy a new one.

Can any of you help me eliminate #3 and #4?

WindowServer High CPU using external monitor - Big Sur

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:24 PM PDT

So, few bits of context

  • I've got a MacBook 12" from 2017
  • It's connected to an external monitor via USB-C to a Satechi V2 dongle and then HDMI to the monitor

I'm experiencing a few things:

  1. Stuttering when I move windows (like dropping frames)
  2. Videos stutter when my mouse pointer is in motion
  3. WindowServer in Activity Monitor shoots through the roof of CPU usage when I move my mouse a lot
  4. The above is accompanied by the beach ball

See screenshot Activity monitor with high Window Server CPU usage

I've had a bit of a speedup by disabling "Displays have seperate spaces" in the System Preferences, but it's still happening. It's also slowing down game animations as when my mouse it moving, games won't animate.

Any thoughts?

iPadOS: Creating files on SMB share

Posted: 08 May 2021 03:25 PM PDT

A new issue has cropped up for me—possibly since iPadOS 14 was released (last week as of this writing), but I'm not sure it hasn't been around longer since it's been some weeks since I last tried doing this and it worked. The issue is specifically with creating files on an SMB share.

My iPad's Files sidebar has an SMB share (boringly called Shared and located on the Linux machine at ~/Shared) exported by Samba from an Ubuntu Linux workstation on my home network, the same network my iPad's on.

It works for fine for editing files—meaning, if I open a file from an app supporting Files selection, or use the Files app itself to invoke an app using a long-press on a file in Shared, I can modify it, and those changes propagate to my Linux machine's storage with no problem.

It also works for deleting files using the Files app, by long-holding on the file in Shared and selecting Delete Now.

The problem arises only when I try to create a new file. If I copy a file into it by what I think of as the "classic Windows method"—finding its original location, long-pressing to Copy, navigating to Shared and doing Paste, I get: A cropped screenshot showing an error panel reading,

which is an error panel reading,

The operation couldn't be completed. Operation canceled
Operation canceled
OK

The same happens if I try to move a file there by dragging it in.

If I try to save a file into Shared directly from an app's export sheet, I get the same: A fullscreen screenshot from the Export panel of Vectornator showing an error panel reading,

I have tried restarting the Linux machine and ejecting and remounting the SMB share on the iPad.

One additional possible clue: I thought perhaps doing touch ~/Shared/two-boxes.svg on Linux prior to attempting the creation might work, since editing existing files works. I did this and then tried to paste the two-boxes.svg file, and got the box warning me of overwriting the empty file:

A

which reads,

Replace Existing Items
The file "two-boxes" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you're copying?
Replace
Keep Both
Stop

Interestingly, if I select Replace, I get the same "Operation canceled" error, but then no two-boxes.svg file at all is left behind. On the other hand, if I select Keep Both, I get no error, but also nothing happens—the old file remains and no new file is created.

One final possible clue: if I go into Shared in the Files app and try to create a new directory, the Files app itself crashes immediately (I'm sent to the home screen and when I restart Files, it reinitializes its state). But oddly, even though it crashes, it worked: the directory is created and visible on Linux!

Leaving the last 9 characters of a filename in Automator

Posted: 08 May 2021 04:08 PM PDT

I have a ton of files to rename where we only need the last 9 characters of the file.

The files are currently named as this: FirstName_LastName_000000000.pdf. Essentially, I want to rename the files so that they are named as such: 000000000.pdf

If somebody can assist with providing a way of doing so that will be awesome.

WindowServer is eating lots of CPU, can't work out why

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:22 PM PDT

2019 16" MBP running 10.15.4. WindowServer is eating a lot of CPU, idling at 10-20%-ish even with nothing much running. Fans are constantly going because of it.

I've disabled transparency and stopped (virtual) screens having their own spaces (as recommended elsewhere), to no avail. Also tried killing random things to see if anything sorts it out - no luck.

Running log stream --predicate '(process == "WindowServer")' --debug I can see it's dumping the following into its debug logs very frequently, 10+ times per second, which seems like it may be related:

2020-05-06 23:54:23.680073+0100 0x4e7 Debug 0x0 228 0 WindowServer: (CoreDisplay) [com.apple.CoreDisplay:default] [DEBUG] - On display 0x2b287853, surface is not detached, CoreDisplay is detached (0x00000000), DetachCode = 0

Any ideas what's going on?

Edit: as someone asked: The screens I was referring to are virtual screens. I do have an external monitor, but this still happens with it detached.

How to determine what is causing Mac Pro to automatically log out and where to find logs of logout events?

Posted: 08 May 2021 05:29 PM PDT

For the last week or so, I've been coming in to the office every morning to find my Mac Pro has logged itself out.

Mac Pro Late 2013 macOS Catalina Version 10.15.3 (19D76)

I have been randomly trying to disable/uninstall things that I thought might be causing the issue but so far no luck.

This morning, I thought that I had finally nailed it as when the screen came up, it was just asking for the password as opposed to username and password as it has started doing since it started logging itself out. Turns out I had started working on a Microsoft Word document which I hadn't saved when I left for the day so that stopped the logout process in its tracks and I was greeted with:

logout stopped warning dialog

All of the usual suspects are not the issue. E.g. I do NOT have 'automatically log out after x minutes' set. I do not have any energy saver settings that would log me out:

The user account settings also don't seem to have anything that would cause a logout:

In security and privacy, the "Require password after sleep or screen saver" is set to "immediately", and "Disable automatic login" is checked.

Most frustratingly about this whole endeavor is that after searching and grepping for longer than I'd care to admin, I absolutely can NOT find logs indicating who or what is causing the logout. Console.app is not helpful; searching though /var/log/ and /private/var/log both as regular user and root (via sudo -i) for things like "log out", "logged out", "logout" along with many variations thereof have yielded no help.

It seems like there should be a straightforward term and/or location where this info would be logged and I'm hoping I just can't figure out what it is.

I'm also certain that this is a logout and not a sleep/wake deal because the last 3 or so mornings when it has happened, all of the applications I had opened when I left for the day are closed and gone.

There have been no notable new software installations of note; but there was an OS update within the last week or so. Unfortunately I can not for sure be certain if this issue started immediately after running that update.

Where can I find out what is causing my machine to log itself out sometime between when I leave around 5pm EST and when I get back in the next morning around 9am EST? There should be logs that detail this basic info shouldn't there? In addition to where I might look, what would be good search terms to use to find these types of events? Obviously "logout, login, logged-out" etc. aren't doing the job (NB: grepping for these terms with case-sensitivity off).

More screenshots of searching for logout etc not helping:

And checking for software updates leads to nothing being available:

| => softwareupdate -l Software Update Tool Finding available software No new software available.

Update: just had a logout in the middle of the day: login[6335]: DEAD_PROCESS: 6335 ttys000

Adjust delay for activating Full Screen Mode toolbar

Posted: 08 May 2021 10:51 PM PDT

Is it possible to change the delay on the full screen mode window toolbar in OS X Yosemite?

I'm thinking of something like this, but for the toolbar

defaults write com.apple.dock autohide-delay -float 5

I love using full screen mode, but I'm frequently accidentally triggering the toolbar which covers up whatever I'm trying to access at the top of the screen.
