What's the minimum point difference between first and last place in Mario Kart Wii after N races?

First off: I know my question is much more of an math problem/riddle/... than a really gaming related question, but I figured that e.g. the Math StackExchange didn't fit the question.

The Setup

In the last days I played Super Mario Kart Wii in 3-player Splitscreen with my roommates. After finishing one of the race series (we always play 8 races at a time), the question arose how close the final scores of all 12 drivers can become.

The Problem

In Super Mario Kart Wii, the 12 places in a race get awarded the following number of points:

Place Points
1st 15
2nd 12
3rd 10
4th 8
5th 7
6th 6
7th 5
8th 4
9th 3
10th 2
11th 1
12th 0

So after 1 race, the minimum point difference between last and first place is 15.

And the maximum point difference is very easy to calculate even for N races as the same player can always come in 1st while another player can always come in last:

maxDiff(N) = N * 15 - N * 0 = N * 15

But how can we calculate the minimum point difference after N races?

Note: The number of points handed out in one race is 73.

What we've done so far

Tried to bruteforce our case of N=8: But there are (naively) 12!^8 = 2*10^69 different distributions. This can surely be simplified because the order of the 8 races doesn't matter but we did not come up with that yet.

We imagined a tactic for N = even where we always mirror the places (so #1, #2, #3, ... in odd races become #12, #11, #10, ... in even races). For N=8 (which has an average number of points for each driver of 73*8/12 = 48.7) we got that the driver who switches between #1 and #12 gets 60 points and the drivers in the middle of the pack (e.g. switching between #6 and #7) get 44 points. So we get:

minDiff(8 according to tactic above) = 60 - 44 = 16

which is only 1 point difference more than for N = 1.

But we don't know whether this is the most efficient approach and we don't know how to optimally handle the case N = odd.

Is anybody able to come up with a nice solution for this problem?

Only minecraft 1.12.2 is running in the background

For some reason whenever I open specifically 1.12.2 it only runs in the background, I've seen people have this similar problem before. I've tried everything I could, deleting the instance and creating another, reinstalling the Minecraft launcher, ending the SE Binary process in task manager and removing all of my mods. Nothing has worked. I tried using MultiMC to launch it but ended up with same results. However it seems that its only 1.12.2 that has the issue, every other version I play on boots up completely fine; including mods. I don't know how to fix this issue so please help.

Would the cheats have effect after we restart the world

Hello Everyone!

I would like to know that if we start a world without cheats in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16 and after that we start a LAN world with cheats from the settings and we use some commands such as keepInventory true.

Then we quit to title screen and close the game. After that when we again start the game and thereafter the world, the cheats would automatically turn off. Would the cheats/commands we have already used like the one given above have any effect on the world. Like would our invest keep itself even if we die, or all the commands used will be reset?

I searched everywhere but the only answer I got is that 'How to turn on cheats after starting the world' . Any help would be appreciated...

How can I play Minecraft with my son without him having an email address?

Other questions I found that are similar but didn't answer my question:

I want to play Minecraft locally with my son (from two computers), but (a) he doesn't have an email address, (b) I don't want to set up an email account for him (and he's too young for that to be legal in the U.S. anyway). I am fine on paying for two copies of Minecraft but I want to make sure I get it set up right.

I explored the Minecraft site but didn't find an answer to this question.

Can I just install Minecraft on both computers using one single account? Or what should I do in order to play with him without setting up a second email?

I do have more than one email address of my own, but my secondary concern is, when he gets old enough to have/want his own email, I'd like him to be able to retain whatever account access he has (e.g. any worlds he's built) and not have it be dependent on me. So, secondary question: is there any way to ensure he'll have this access in the future, apart from setting up an email address for him now?

Why can't I access the Hermit's Lodge on Scylla for Vicar Max?

Part of Vicar Max's story has me heading to Scylla to meet with a Hermit ('The Empty Man' quest). The problem is, the front door is sealed, and there is no other obvious way in. The waypoint is clearly within the small building.

At first I thought maybe I had to travel there with the Vicar, but after going back to my ship and returning with him, the door remained sealed.

Is there another quest I need to do, or some other way into the building?

How can I disable autosave since it is causing lag spikes?

Minecraft freezes so much that it is unplayable, even though I get a good 5 FPS at minimum graphics settings.

There is no option to disable "auto saving" option in minecraft, and I wish there is. Is there any way to disable auto saving? I have forge installed so I can use mods to turn it off.

How much space do I need to grow a dark oak tree with saplings?

I know that it needs 7 blocks above, but I wanted to know how much it requires next to it. For example, can I put one dark oak (unobstructed) every block? Every other block? Every 5 blocks? This is for a manual tree farm. Are there any other requirements as well? I saw that the base doesn't need any space but the top does somewhere and haven't seen it since. How should I grow my dark oak?

Shaders black screen problem

Is it possible to use a button to change the text

I have been wanting to have a button that would cycle through text but I have not been able to figure it out. So what I would want to do is that there is one button and when you press that button it will go to message 0 to message 1 and so on and when it gets to message 4 it goes to message 0. I have tried tutorials but they never go over what I have been doing. But if it isn't possible to use a button then what type of circuit do I need to slowly loop the messages. P.S I am sorry if this is a stupid question.

Minecraft sprinting while running and jumping

I have been playing on the same computer for about 5 years and it worked perfectly. Now for some reason i can not jump while running woth sprint or just at all walking and jumping. I try to do it and i just jump in place. I tried changing version and it did not work. I try to run and jump and it goes well for about 1 or half a second and then i jump in place with no movement at all for like 5 seconds and that has been happening for about 2 weeks now. On all servers. I didnt change anything in my computer, version or buttons. It just started happening out of nowhere. What do i do? Sorry for mistakes, English is not my main language.

How long does it take for a pokestop nomination to come into voting after being in queue?

I am new in submitting pokestop nominations. So I nominated 2 pokestops of my area. Almost 4 days passed , i still find it in queue in my niantic wayfarer account. I am afraid whether it is the procedure or an error occurred while submitting the nomination.

So, how long did nomination take to get into voting from in queue.

What is the minimum and maximum waiting time it might be ?

If number of players matter , in this case, our town has almost 15+ players of pokemon go with level 38 or 38+ accounts along with me.

Proslife PS4 Controller Bluetooth Not Working On Windows 10

My Proslife controller works in-game over USB but not via Bluetooth. It is connected to the PC via Bluetooth and the input test works when running JOY.CPL, it even works on the controller menu in Steam settings. But in-game, the controller is not detected. It also doesn't seem to be detected by DS4Windows. Please help, I am losing hope.

How to fix Among Us authentication issues on Switch?

When I try to join a private room in Among Us on Switch, I get this error:

Among us servers couldn't authenticate you

I opened the profile section in the menue, and clicked "sign in", yet the error persists. Any way to fix this? I've tried uninstalling the game, removing my savegame data, reinstalling the game, signing in again, and yet the error persists.

So I recently turned on my PS4 & my PSN account was signed out, unfortunately I don't know my password nor do I have access to the email address associated with the account. I've never experienced this before though so I'm curious as to why my account was signed out? My account has remained logged into without requiring authentication for over a year..

So I have three questions,

#1 - If I were to be banned from PSN for whatever reason, would I have been logged out automatically, or would I be prompted with a dialogue stating I'm banned.

#2 - Is this normal? Is it a regular occurence for you to be randomly signed out of PSN ( I mean I would assume not, since I've been logged in for over a year.

#3 - Is it possible someone changed my password whilst I was inactive? and so due to crednetials changing I was signed out to reauthenticate my credentials.

How do I start the "Put a Record On" mission in Control?

I found a coin and talked to Arish, and I've selected "Put a Record On" from my missions list. I found the jukebox, but when I press the button, I get the Expeditions menu. I tried going on an expedition, but that's not what the walkthroughs describe.

Is there some trick to completing the mission, or is the game just broken?

Apparently, I'm not the only one with this problem. Any solutions?

Use Xbox One Controller as joystick

The 1994 game Star Wars: Tie Fighter Special Edition requires both mouse/keyboard and joystick inputs to play (not at the same time). I have a utility which allows me to use my mouse to emulate a joystick, but this doesn't make for the easiest of controls.

I know that many modern games offer controller support, but since this is such an old game it isn't the case here. The game doesn't let you map the joystick controls to the Xbox One controller, and I haven't been able to find anything in the config files that will help either.

So is there any way to use an Xbox One controller as a joystick?

I have been searching for ages but I can't find any Jungle Temples without using the Advanced Minecraft Interface and Data/Structure Tracking (AMIDST) tool. I had been searching all over jungles to find jungle temples before finding AMIDST. AMIDST can find jungle temples, but I still want to find one without using AMIDST.

Is there any 100% acurate way of finding jungle temples without using any third-party programs?

What's the most efficient Minecraft mining strategy?

When I'm not exploring fresh caves or lands in minecraft, I'm busy trying to find deposits of diamond, gold and iron deep in the earth. So far I've just been digging around just above bedrock on a whim to look for these rare minerals but I've started thinking that I should be taking a more controlled, efficient approach to mining.

What is the optimal mining strategy that yields the most rare minerals while minimizing blocks removed and time spent digging and traveling?

Edit: The existing answers are great for mining, but no one has addressed travel time to and from the mine which is usually ~60 blocks downward and incredibly tedious. Solutions?
