Looking for an old Windows game which is strategic. Maybe 1994 [closed]

I know I played this like 20 years ago on my Windows. It was some kind of Shareware but you could play it endlessly.

The features:

  • Strategic game with overly simple graphic, i.e. grid view with up to four colours plus gray for no mans land
  • fog of war could be disabled.
  • up to four players which could be computers or humans
  • player had cities and armies
  • you could put one army on a cell which belongs to your land
  • if you put your army on a cell which does not belong to any other player, you've conquered it
  • if you put your army on a cell that belongs to another player, you've stealed this land from them, it became your land
  • enemy armies could defend these cells making it hard to conquere it in first place, you lost your army
  • I think the name was something like Pendopulous but Google was not really helpful
  • Oh and it had one campaign where you could play Russia or Germany in second world war.

Anyone could help with the right name?

Can't get my mates to join my minecraft server

My friends can't join my IP server. I've got it all set up, I gave them the right IP, but when they try to join, it simply says 'can't connect to server'. I've also gotten this error:

[01:25:05] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded? Running 3281ms or 65 ticks behind  

But I'm not sure if that's related to them joining. I'm on macOS, and when I use the IP to join my own server, it works just fine. Could someone help me out?

Why should I Formalise the Daneland?

I'm an Emperor and I've conquered many lands.

I've found out I'll soon be able to "Formalise the Daneland", and reading the description this would basically destroy both England (a vassal of mine) and Danelaw (mine) to form a new Daneland (still mine).

So… what's in it for me? Why should the new one be better than the old one? Two Kingdoms look better than one… is there some hidden pro I'm missing?

Don't really care about de-jure claims, if that's it: I can conquer all I like anyway with Conquest casus belli…

PS: plus, it's not clear which will be the default succession of the new Kingdom. If it's not Feudal Elective as my current one, this will basically be a net loss of 1500 Prestige in order to turn it elective again…

i just started a minecraft server for me and one of my friend groups to use, but i'd also like a separate server for my other friends. I downloaded the server file again, made a new folder, did all the same things I had done to start up the first server, and I used Port Map to create a new port. Now, I've heard you're supposed to log in to your router to do this, however, after looking up my ipv4 address online and entering it in my browser, nothing showed up. The port number i used with port map is 25566, as opposed to the first, which was 25565. To test if this server worked, I tried joining it my putting in my IP, adding a colon, and adding the new port, so it looked something like 111.222.333:25566 , however, it didn't work. This is the method I had found online, though it wasn't a very detailed explanation, and i'd like to find a way to do this. If anyone can help me out, that would be greatly appreciated.

How do I /fill blocks in a certain direction in Minecraft 1.16?

So, I'm attempting to create an attack for a boss fight I'm making. The boss can spawn a square of redstone blocks and dispensers which contain arrows. I want the dispensers to face west.

So I type this command:

fill 1994 143 1972 dispenser{Facing:west,Items:[{id:"arrow",Count:64b,Slot:0b}],}  

The result looks like: Dispensers.

The dispensers are facing north.

No matter what I put for Facing, the dispensers are always facing north and I can't do anything about it.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Any help appreciated.

So I just had a thought. If I can make one Shulker Box and put a Shulker box in it with a Shulker box in it with a Shulker box in it repeat as many times as you want to, how much could I fit in my inventory? I think I can do infinite, just as long as it doesn't take up a lot of memory.

I've just set up a new dedicated server for my friends and I to play with.

But when I log into the server there's already a medical room belonging to "First Colonist" and even if you select "No Faction" it still insists on dropping you into a massive, sprawling, fully kitted out base complete with a fleet of prebuilt ships.

Literally taking all of the fun out of a game about building stuff by simply building it all for you. If I wanted a game to play itself, I'd just watch YouTube videos.

No matter what settings I tinker with, no matter how many times I generate a new world, this prebuilt base is always there. How do I get rid of it?

Is health and magicka useless in Skyrim late game?

Finally playing Skyrim again after 6+ years!

I recall on my last character I only leveled up stamina, because I learned the hard way, on a different character, that for any mage/stealth character health and magicka are somewhat useless late game. Why?

My last character had:

100 Magicka, 100 Health, 680 Stamina

Short Explanation:

Spells do not cost anything late game, because of enchanting. Additionally, high-tier spells like paralyze, invisibility, and calm used in combination with stealth make it pretty uncommon for you to ever get hit. Also, there is some fun-aspect to playing on 100 health for a mage/stealth build.

Now, what about stamina? Why is it useful. My argument begs the question, "why not enchant armor with fortify stamina, and put some points into magicka and health instead?"

Keep in-mind the late-game question is what to enchant your armor with, right? What is most efficient. For example, if you put some points into magicka, maybe you can enchant your armor with something besides magicka reduction.

Issue with Magicka:
Unfortunately, infinite-magicka > lots-of-magicka. Even if you put some perks into magicka, you'll likely end up wanting to use some enchanted magic reduction armor, so that enchantment slot will still be used even if you put a good amount of points into magicka. You cannot enchant infinite fortify stamina. Additionally, the amount is lackluster.

Issue with Health:
As discussed in the short explanation, for any late-game mage/stealth build you'll rarely get hit. At least 100 health gives the enemies a fighting chance.

Benefit of Stamina:
High stamina is convenient for getting places faster and carrying lots of items. Saves you time and money. It is extremely convenient to have 700+ stamina. You have almost total freedom to run around and carry whatever you want. You'll also level up things like alchemy faster.

In conclusion – I am not saying high stamina is great or OP. I am saying that magicka and health are somewhat useless, and stamina is at least highly convenient.

Does anyone have a counter point to this? Were there any changes to Special Edition that make health and magicka more viable? Last time I played was before special edition.

P.S. Playing on legendary difficulty if relevant.

After a long time I saw that Jeb,bob,bill,&Valentina was dead for no reason. So I went in to the file persistent.sts and change State=Dead to State=Available it but did not work...

More information: persistent.sts was not persistent.sts but was persistent(2021_05_19_19_02_21).sts, does this matter?

How do you summon the Killer Bunny on Bedrock Edition?

I know that the Killer Bunny can be summoned with commands in Java Edition, like so:

Is it possible to do this on Bedrock Edition? If so, how?

Is the alpha channel supported in Minecraft tellraw?

So I'm trying to add transparency to Minecraft tellraw so text can be partly transparent, and I'm stuck. I've tried to add it via hex code, in the format #AARRGGBB and the alpha value is completely ignored. I know it is supported in someway since I can use translucent images in unicode, I just don't know how to add it without using unicode. Is there a way to add it in the color value? Does Minecraft have a different value for alpha values? Or is this not possible? A solution without using unicode is what I need.

Problem with RequiredPlayerRange on spawners

This is on the latest Minecraft version, 1.16.4

I have been trying to figure out how to get it to work with NBTEexplorer. I changed the RequiredPlayerRange to higher then default amount which was 16 now its 40, yet whenever i save it and just restart my game to see if the changes applied it still defaults back to its original range yet still says 40 in the NBTExplorer.

went to ahead and checked on the official wiki of minecraft to find i had to change MaxNearbyEntities aswell though unsure what to so i changed it to the same value, still nothing

update during writing!

found a command that might work?

/data merge block -1537 39 771 {RequiredPlayerRange: 30}  

standing above the spawner and counted 1 block off the Y coordinate

^ this gave me a error: that position is not loaded

Though, no idea what that could mean really

Could someone explain why I am getting this?

As well if you know of a different fix for the problem please tell!

Copy player's armor and offhand items into a chest

I have tried to copy all items from a player's inventory into a chest in 1.16. I have used this command for the hot bar and the 2 first rows in the inventory:

/data modify block 227 76 77 Items set from entity @a[tag=inbuild,limit=1] Inventory  

For the 3rd row I have used these commands:

/summon minecraft:item ~ 69.00 85.46 {Item:{id:"minecraft:stone",Count:1b},Age:5990s}

It works, but now I need to do the same with the armor slots and the second hand but i cant get it to work :( Do I need to do something else to get the armor and the second hand to work, or am I just using the wrong slot IDs? For the armor i use these ids: 100, 101, 102 and 103, and for the second hand i use this -106. I can have missed something else when I did it, but I have done it 3 times and I never got it to work!

I missed Redd on his first visit to my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. When does he come back?

The recent update to Animal Crossing New Horizons added Redd as an occasional NPC. According to this guide, the first time he appears, Isabelle announces it.

The problem is, I forgot to talk to him on that day, and he hasn't come back since.

How long do I have to wait to get him to reappear?

EDIT: To be clear - my understanding is that to have him appear in his boat, you need to buy the initial artwork to open the art gallery in the museum. I didn't do that. So now Blathers keeps saying "I'd love you to donate art" but I don't have any art to donate!

Video settings only allow to set it to Low. Are there any config files that I can edit to fully disable anti-aliasing? Since it's Unreal Engine I assume there should be.

Simcity 2013 - Space Center Oil Problem

I have a very annoying problem. I can't send oil to the space center. I don't produce oil. I import Oil to Trade Port and Depot. After filling, I use the use locally option. But nothing happens. Even if I produce oil.

What units do not genuinely "die" in Fire Emblem Fates Conquest regardless of difficulty mode?

I have the impression or assumption that certain units who show up in (future) cinematics in the story can't or won't probably die, and merely "retreat" for plot purposes. Or maybe the game auto fails you for the mission. Does anybody have the definitive list? I'm playing on casual or whatever mode where units wouldn't die anyway, but am curious how this might be handled across difficulty modes.

Minecraft chat sometimes contains 't' when opened on Linux?

Sometimes, when I go to type a chat message on Minecraft (using t to open the chat) there is already a letter t entered in the text field.

This is only occurring in Minecraft and nowhere else. I use Minecraft on Linux (Arch and Ubuntu, problem exists in both distros) with OpenJDK.

If I assign another alphanumeric or special character key to the 'open chat' action, the problem still occurs, just with whatever key I assign. For example, If I assign p, then I will get a p entered in the text field.

If I set the 'open chat' action to Enter then it does not happen (It's a nice workaround). It is somewhat similar to this bug for Windows 10, but I don't experience this issue on anything other than Linux.

How do I fix this in a more permanent manner?

Every Unreal Engine game I play has a framerate drop after about ten minutes

I have been having this problem with a variety of games. The ones I can recall specifically right now are Life is Strange and the one I was just playing, The Old City.

Both games, and at least one other I can't remember, play fine for the first ten minutes or so. Life is Strange is getting about 80fps, and The Old City is just over 60fps. But after a little while, both games drop to 22fps. I thought it was just specific to Life is Strange initially, and beat that entire game, but that was about a month ago and now I'm having the same problem with yet another game. What could cause it and how could I fix it?

I've tried stopping as many other processes as possible, turning off every video game and streaming overlay I can think of, and just now I tried going into the BaseEngine.ini file and increasing the PoolSize value from 160 to 2048, with I believe corresponds to MB of GPU memory. My rig is an AMD FX-8350, 16GB of RAM, an nVidia GTX 760 with 4GB of RAM, and 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm using an ASUS VG248QE 144Hz monitor.

How do I access the cannon outside the castle?

There is a cannon just outside of the castle in Super Mario 64 but it's locked! The cannon is near the water on the beach.

Can I get access to the cannon? If so, how?

What's required to save Captain Kirrahe on Virmire?

I was reading the ME3 entry in the Mass Effect Wiki when I read that Captain Kirrahe would return in some fashion if he survived the assault on Saren's base on Virmire. Now maybe I missed something the first two times around, but I know for certain that I didn't save him the third time I played the game.

I'm aware that without disabling some stuff before reaching the base, Kirrahe will almost certainly die, however, I'd like to know if there's a time component, or other specific actions that will effect this outcome. Of special interest is whether choosing to aid the team at the AA guns or return to the bomb site has any effect.
