Can I create a custom biome with no floor for my datapack?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:40 PM PDT

I've been looking into custom world generation recently and I found out that you can create custom biomes and have them generate in the world. I was wondering if it was at all possible to use this to create a biome with no floor at all. Like just a hole that drops into the void. I know I could use custom worldgen settings to create floating islands, but then I couldn't have stuff like custom particles, fog, or water. I've tried using custom surface builders, but I don't think they're powerful enough.

Is it possible to have a custom biome override the world generation and just be a huge hole?

I'm trying to figure out how to turn a creation (designated area) into falling blocks with the correct blocks

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:19 PM PDT

I've found a YouTube video on how to make sand block entities look like glass, wool, or stairs, etc. I wanted to try and make some sort of creation with it, but the process I came up with involved typing in the name of the block I want it to look like and then placing a bunch of command blocks.

I'm trying to find a system that takes a designated area, scans the blocks to find out exactly what they are (what block, how it's rotated) and places the falling_block entity.

This is what I have for placing the falling_block entity:

summon falling_block ~ ~2 ~ {BlockState:{Name:"minecraft:redstone_block"},Time:1,NoGravity:1b}

Backing up PS4 game data to external USB drive - missing a critical step?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 05:27 PM PDT

A few months ago I followed a guide in the official Sony page Back up and restore PS4 data with external storage device. It claims this will backup all adult and child accounts. It all seemed to work fine.

Yesterday we finally got our PS5, and I was able to use the external drive to restore my PS4 game data to my account. Then my daughter logged in with her account (I logged out of mine), but when we attempted to import her game data, there is nothing shown (as if the external drive is empty).

I've searched online everywhere for a solution to this, but nobody else seems to have this problem.

My thinking is, perhaps the original Sony page I mentioned above (and absolutely every YouTube video on the same subject) is missing an important step: Did I have to export the game data to the USB drive while logged into each account separately on the PS4? So for example, be logged into my, export my game data. Then log into my daughters account, export her game data. Then log into my wife's account, export her game data.

Because if that's the case, then absolutely nobody - even Sony - is mentioning this.

As it stands right now I am the only one in the family who has been able to successfully transfer PS4 data to the PS5, and I'm feeling like the worst Dad in the world.

FYI we do not have the original PS4 any more (we sold it a few months ago) and no cloud account.

For what it's worth, here's a screenshot (below) of what the backup data looks like. The SAVEDATA directory only has one folder, called 79da45a87cf4451.

Anyway, I'm trying to get confirmation on this. I followed the instruction to the letter, and only my game data was able to be restored to the PS5. If I've messed up, I'd like to know how. But if I did everything right, why can't I restore the game data for the rest of my family?

Is there a way to disable the animation when changing items?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 02:17 PM PDT

When changing what item you are holding the handheld model will move down out of frame, it will change to whatever item you have swapped to, then the item will come back up. I need to make it so that the handheld model never moves, it just instantly changes the model. I also need to be able to do this without mods.

Which skills can be leveled outside the raid?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 01:51 PM PDT

Some skills can be leveled without even entering any map, because they gain experience on actions performed in stash or hideout. While the situation seems clear for Hideout Management and Crafting - those are improved through appropriate actions in the Hideout - some other skills are not clearly documented as to when they can or cannot be improved.

Are there other skills that are not (exclusively) leveled while actually playing the game as PMC?

Which blocks change behavior based on player state in Minecraft?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 05:13 AM PDT

In , there's an achievement called "Sleep with the Fishes":

Achievement In-game description Actual requirements (if different)
Sleep with the Fishes Spend a day underwater. Spend 20 minutes underwater without any air.

To earn it, I took advantage of how magma blocks work:

When a water source is directly above a magma block, a whirlpool bubble column is created, going downward from the highest source block. Anything encountering the bubble column is pulled down, including items, boats, players, and mobs.

A player can restore breath by entering a magma block's bubble column.

However, there is a very specific component to making this plan work:

Magma blocks damage most living entities standing on top of them, even if underwater... The player can avoid all damage by sneaking, using a potion of fire resistance, or by wearing Frost Walker boots.

So, in order to not take damage, I had to find a magma block, under water, and sneak over it, for 20 minutes:

Screenshot of sneaking over a magma block under water.

This made me wonder though, are there any other blocks that change behavior due to the state of the player? Let's define the state of the player, in the context of this post, to contain things such as:

  • Sneaking, swimming, jumping, running, etc.
  • Currently equipped armor/left hand slot.
  • Currently held item/block.

How do I make it that /trigger will only execute a command once?

Posted: 08 Aug 2021 03:47 AM PDT

So I am making a datapack for custom enchantments. I want to make it where every time I use /trigger , then the command will be executed once. However, at the same time the objective value used in /trigger will be kept the same without continuously executing the /execute command in my tick.mcfunction. Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you

Are the crowns you earn for winning worth more than 1?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:44 PM PDT

Due to daily challenges, you can usually get a crown pretty easily even if you don't win, which makes me wonder. If I win a match and grab the crown, will this still only be worth as much as one I might get by earning fame or doing daily challenges, or will it be worth more? (I haven't won a game yet)

please comment if this is not clear.

How can I use gear to optimize storage space in my stash?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 01:39 PM PDT

In Escape from Tarkov stash space is a limiting factor in what you can do with your character. For standard users especially, running out of stash space means that loot can't be easily saved. This makes scav runs particularly difficult as you can't keep gear in your character inventory after finishing a raid.

The new Lucky Scav Junkbox becoming an items Therapist sells alleviates the worst of the problem for storing necessary barter/trade items. But medicine, armor, and guns can't be stored in the Junkbox.

For players under level 20 who can't access the flea market there aren't a lot of options for ways to store other gear beyond using certain rigs and backpacks for storage. The best I've acquired is storing an Azimut rig inside of a Pillbox backpack. The rig has enough room for 20 items, but only takes up 12 spaces in the stash. The Pillbox can also store 20 items, but it takes up 16 spaces in the stash. Putting the rig inside the pillbox means I can keep 28 items in gear that only consumes 16 spaces in my stash.

Is this storage-saving method the best gear-size-to-slots-made-available ratio I can achieve or are there more efficient backpacks or rigs I could be using to optimize my limited stash space? For the purpose of the question I am only interested in the storage space offered by chest rigs, armored chest rigs, and backpacks.

How to detect mobs taking damage?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 09:05 PM PDT

As simple as the title gets, I want to detect when a certain kind of mob has been hit and then execute a command accordingly. Say the mob is a cow and I wish to detect whenever a player has hit the cow. This was the code I came up with:

execute if entity @e[type=cow,nbt={HurtTime:10}] run …

On putting it in the command block, it didnt really work, I want it to detect every bit of damage done to a specific kind of a mob even a punch. Or is there any other way do execute this command other than the hurt time function?

Can bosses bleed out in Escape from Tarkov?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 05:57 PM PDT

In Escape From Tarkov scav bots can be inflicted with health debuffs like the bleed or heavy bleed effect which can allow you to disengage a conflict and wait for your opponent to perish if they're unable to heal themselves.

Bosses have dramatically different stats, but I'm not sure if it's possible to inflict a heavy bleed effect on them. If I wound a boss with bullets that would normally cause a heavy bleed would I be able to hide from them and wait for them to bleed out?

How do I fix my Minecraft sorting machine?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 04:02 AM PDT

I am currently playing on a Minecraft server. I want to build a sorting machine, but the normal sorting machine is not working.

I want to filter all the items which are only stackable up to 16. The sorting system can works if the items stackable up to 16 are above 12 and the items stackable up to 64 are under 48.

Inside the hopper: | 0 | 17 | 1 | 1 | 1 | Items.

For item stackable to 64: reading the hopper with a comparator, it turns off the other comparator at 49.

For items stackable to 16: reading the hopper with a comparator, it turns off the other comparator at 13.

My Idea was to stack the items between 13 and 48. Every item that is stackable up to 64 passes through because it won't turn of the comparator. Every item that is stackable up to 16 is falling down, because it turns off the comparator. I don't have any idea how to stack the items in a hopper between 13 and 48.

How do I change the active goal for Bioshock Remastered (PC)?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 05:30 PM PDT

I'm playing Bioshock Remastered for PC (via Steam). I'm in Acadia and I've just been given the 'Invent the Lazarus Vector' quest. This quest has two parts, and it helpfully flashed up a tutorial message indicating that this is a multi-part quest, and that you can set the active goal via the Map screen to track each individual part. It might have said more -- but I kind of just clicked through after getting the gist.

So I pop open the Map screen (M) and then I go to the 'goals' section. I see there are two parts -- obtaining distilled water, and obtaining enzyme samples. There are little arrows next to the 'Invent the Lazarus Vector' goal, which means (I presume) that it is the active goal.

enter image description here

However, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually change the active goal. If I click on either of the sub goals, I can see details about it, but there only available option on that screen is 'back'.

If I go back to the Map screen and click hint, it says 'No Active Goal'.

I did some googling, and the only forum post I found mentioning a potential solution involved plugging in an X-Box controller and using it to select the active goal using the controller key bindings. I don't own any console, nor controllers, so this isn't an option for me. Though I did double-check the keybindings to make sure there wasn't an unbound option that I had not set, but no dice.

How do I change the active goal?

(This is my first play through -- please no spoilers! I don't want a walk-through or explanation on how to solve the quest, I just want to play the game it was intended to be played.)

Electrical lines breaking under low power

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 11:29 AM PDT

In Oxygen Not Included I am experiencing breaks in electrical lines even though they are not carrying over 1000 W of power. The entire system has more than 1000 W, but the branches where the breaks are occurring do not.

Is this just a bug in the design of the game?

Bring out other property of crafting item

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 03:04 PM PDT

In Enchanted Cave 2, each Crafting Item has two distinct Properties, concerning what they can do when enchanting a weapon or making a potion.

No matter what I do, it's always one of the properties that counts, i.e. actually affects the enchantment or potion, for each Crafting Item type.

The other property might as well not exist, but it's there on display! Is there a way to activate them?

As a concrete example, a Turtle Shell could provide Ice Defence or Earth Defence in theory, but in practice it's always Earth Defence. Can it be made to provide Ice Defence?

If not, why is the second Property there??

Create contraption: regenerating floor block toggle

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 06:05 AM PDT

How do I create a system that does the following when pulsed:

  1. Switches a block from the floor with a stone block
  2. Waits for a couple seconds, wherein the block is destroyed by a player
  3. Puts the original floor block back
  4. Replaces the empty space where the stone was destroyed with another stone block from a generator.

I've tried using simple stone generator and block switcher mechanisms, but they always replace the empty space where the stone was with a piston head. Is there a different block switcher that doesn't do that, or is there a better way to create the same effect?
