Changes (to controls, video settings, audio, etc) not saving when I close Minecraft

I've recently noticed that whenever I close my game, any changes I made during the time I was playing do not save. I do not know about vanilla worlds since I play servers only.

I noticed a while back that whenever I tried to activate flame particles, as soon as I close the game they'd become deactivated again. This goes for texture packs too, when I'd deactivate a Hypixel texture pack it would seemingly reenable reenable when I opened the game again.

My friend recently started a 1.16.5 SMP. As a Hypixel player I use 1.8.9 optifine but I want to have more fun so I switched (or at least tried to) to unmodded, no optifine 1.16.5, but it keeps resetting the controls, the video settings, even the "Do not show again" on the third party server warning. For some reason though, my 1.8.9 controls carry over to 1.16.5, even though they didn't carry over when I was still playing 1.14 vanilla (but that was more than a year ago).

I do not have java installed anymore to save space, would that be a problem?

Is this normal on DVD-ROM/BD-ROM discs?

Looking to my collection i have been noticed that there are some marks on the edge of the game discs, like glue or adhesive of the discs squeezed out from the outer edge, i post some pictures of the case, in this photo is in a DVD-ROM of Xbox 360

I should point out that it is not as if it were the exception, if not rather the norm, the majority that I have looked at have said marks to a lesser or greater extent.

Is this early signs of discs rot? I have not found nothing similar to this

Lost Lydia (Skyrim)

I have lost Lydia, I lost her when starting the companions quest The Silver Hand because she was dismissed, after the quest I looked for her at my house in Falkreath (I have the Hearthfire DLC) and could not find her, I looked in Dragonsreach with the same results, I had a wedding at the temple of mara and she appeared at the wedding but left and I could not get to her. I also checked at Jorrvaskr to see if she stayed there but I did not find her, I even looked in the hall of the dead to see if she died but no luck. Is this a bug, I play on the Xbox 360 by the way. Let me clarify that the last time I saw her was at the wedding.

How do you stop a creeper from exploding via commands?

I have built a structure in creative mode that is filled with creepers. The problem is I want to go to survival mode without blowing up the structure or myself. I don't know anything about commands about summoning and stuff like that. The only command I know is give_[player]_a_[something]. So, how do I summon creepers that will ( or if possible make the creepers that I already have ) not be able to explode?

Why can't I beat Hypothermia?

I cannot beat Hypothermia when I begin a new rimworld. Every(!) game I start, even in the dessert, my colonists immediately suffer from Hypothermia. Group hugging around campfires doesn't work, the hypothermia goes up and up and up. Temperature at this spot is 28°C.

So, what's the trick beating hypothermia early in game, when it doesn't appear random anymore and even kills the settlers standing at a fireplace?

Two of them are wearing Hyperthread winter cloaks, that are supposed to keep them warm and dry Difficulty is level 2, storyteller is Chillax

Are there any Infinite Combos in Monster Train?

In a similar game, Slay the Spire, I know of quite a few infinite combos, however with significantly less "draw" cards in Monster Train, I was wondering if there are any ways to get an infinite combo going?

Most cards draw cards next turn, such as Sting, so I don't think they can be used,
but maybe an Awoken Rail Spike upgraded with Eternalstone can be used for something?

If possible, a nice answer would include combos for both the base game and the Last Divinity DLC.
(My guess is that the -2 cost Valuestone in the DLC would be helpful too...)

Why can't the remote player move in Minecraft?

I'm trying to have a friend join my Minecraft server. For some reason, when he joins the server, his avatar just stays in one place and then after about 15 seconds he is kicked off the server. The weird thing is, he is able to move around on his end for a little bit but all I see on my end is him trapped in one spot.

We both have official Minecraft licenses (As I paid for them both) and are playing on the latest version. The server is a Linux server running on AWS and is running the java dedicated server version 1.16.5. I've been using this server successfully with other players for over a year and I haven't seen this problem. No firewall rules are enabled on the server. I'm wondering if there is some setting that I'm missing. Any ideas?

How can I pick block on a touchscreen?

I'm trying to pick a block on Minecraft Education Edition for iPad, but I can't.

I've tried changing the settings, but as the game is on an iPad, and the settings are for a keyboard, it seems impossible to assign something that would work in this case.

Can I make landmines snap to a grid?

When playing Factorio it seems that landmines are the only object I can place where it doesn't snap to a grid. I want to make a dragon's teeth barricade with land mines interspaced but the inconsistent manual landmine placement makes it difficult to cleanly place the mines between the walls.

I tried using drones and blueprints to automate the process but very minor inconsistencies grow when scaled up using drones. I've seen pictures of other people who have their mines placed in a grid format, I just can't figure out how to do so myself.

How would I run Minecraft 1.16 off a flashdrive? [duplicate]

I have been enjoying Minecraft lately, after getting java edition.
The problem? Every month, I have to reset my whole PC to keep it from lagging to a bog.
However, when I do this, I have to reinstall Minecraft.
It has gotten HIGHLY annoying, so I wanted to move Minecraft to my flash drive.
Nothing worked! It ALWAYS used my local AppData anyway, meaning that when the wipe occurs I have to wait an hour for a reinstall... D:
Is there any launcher, or method to run Minecraft 1.16 off of a flash drive?
Specifications: Flashdrive has 60 GB of storage, 20 GB left after all of apps and other stuff take space.

How can I stop dying SO FAST after running into someone decent in Fortnite?

So I like to play fortnite, and while neither me nor my hardware is too good, I still find it a fun way to connect with my friends, even though i am trash at the game playing on a 25 dollar nintendo switch controller and a crappy monitor, but I also like to play arena, and the thing is, whenever I run into somebody I just die SO FAST! I hear somebody in a building. I crouch over by the door, they jump out behind me, and I can't even turn around to get a shot off before I'm dead. I think I might be able to hold my own to some extent if I can stay alive for more than 2 seconds after shots are fired at me. Any advice?

Ethernet Adapter disconnects after large amount of data passes through to an outside network

edit: so after an egregious amount of testing, I may significantly narrowed down what the problem might be. So basically, my going theory at the moment is when a large amount of data passes through the adapter, it "trips" off and completely disconnects everything. So first reason why I think this is because, I can consistently get this issue to happen, simply by sending a lot of data (in my case I just spawn in a bunch of TnT, blow it up, and voila, no internet for my PC! Furthermore, the adapter will only disconnect if it is sending a lot of data outside my network. If I connect to the server via a local IPv4 everything is fine, but the moment I join via my public IP, internet magically disconnects).

The reason why I think it is either a problem with my adapter itself, or some issue with windows is because this is exclusive to my PC. I have tested this on another computer connected to the same router, also using ethernet, does not disconnect after large amount of data passes through.

So to sum up, when a large amount of information passes through the adapter via public IP, something "trips off", and completely disconnects my PC's internet until I restart.

Hopefully the title describes the problem, essentially when my 1.16.4 Minecraft server runs (with people on it from a different network), after a random amount of time (sometimes it 5 minutes, but the longest I've been able to go is around 4 hours), my internet connection (which is ethernet) will completely disconnect. The server itself is fine (as when I join via localhost, OR local ip address) it doesn't kick me out, but everyone else who connects via my public IP (and when I too join via my own public IP), will be kicked out (obviously right? Since it's my internet that no longer works). In addition nothing irregular with server logs so I'm fairly certain the server isn't the issue, but more so something with Windows 10 and people connecting via an outside network.

I would like to mention that perhaps around 2-3 months ago this problem didn't exist, and only suddenly started to happen when I got a new computer, so this makes me believe that it's something with THIS computer and not the router.

Whenever the ethernet disconnects, stopping the server does nothing, neither does disconnecting the cable. I have to completely restart Win10 in order to get my connection back.

Things I have tried--->

I have tried completely disabling Windows Defender Firewall, and having it on with Java as an exception, neither proved to be the solution. I googled and found this thread, where someone suggested to edit my ethernet adapter settings and change the value of "number of transmit buffers" to 512. (this was already the default). However I don't think this is the issue as regardless if there is one person on the server or 10, the result is the same. This is also an issue with multiple version of Minecraft, (have played on 1.12 and 1.16) which further makes me believe that its not a problem with the server, but more so something with windows.

I would like to iterate that this issue only occurs when I'm port forwarding, other than that I have incredibly stable internet regardless if I'm just browsing the internet, in a Zoom call, or playing any other game.

What's the best way to find your base in Minecraft?

Things I've tried:

  1. Compass to find my spawn point. Didn't work; my base is farther from my spawn point than you'd think
  2. Maps. Also didn't help much; I was a bit careless about making them so I don't see any relationship between them and I can't figure out where they are in relation to each other
  3. Building MASSIVE pillars as landmarks; I fell to my death and now I can't find them either.

Anyone got any other ideas or do I scrap this world and start fresh?

Is there a redstone device that can gather lava buckets hands off?

My nether portal is a stone throw away from a lava lake. I've been using a crab load of buckets to keep my furnaces running for building materials.

I'm trying to cut the work down and not run around all the time. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to have a redstone device that I can just drop buckets in and it'll gather the lava for me.

I've been doing some tests but I keep getting buckets spat into the lava pool and I'm not desiring to lose more iron. Just seeing if it's possible. Or worthwhile.

Does reload speed do anything on Hildryn's Balefire Charger?

So Hildryn's exalted secondary has the ability to equip secondary reload mods.

That said, that's a bit odd. A few points:

  • There is no reload function for the skill -- it leeches off your shield pool and has no "magazine".
  • All mod availability on exalted weapons are deliberate -- DE wouldn't leave a mod to be used on an exalted weapon that serves no practical application.
  • There is a listed reload time -- 1 second, which is reduced to 0.6 with Quickdraw equipped
  • It would be unlikely to be affecting fire rate and charge time, because those mods have their own separate stat line affected by fire rate mods

The difference between 0.7 and 1 second is extremely hard to differentiate on its own, and even harder when I have no real idea what "reload" is on the Balefire.

Does it do anything? If so, what is it affecting? The wikia isn't much help here.

Xbox One controller intermittently shutting itself off mid-use

I have the weirdest issue that I've been digging for a solution to for hours and am resorting to trying to post a couple places.

Controller shuts down despite having full battery in the middle of gaming. This only occurs on my main desktop PC. I've tried:

  • Hooking up different Microsoft dongles on this PC
  • Same thing happens on this PC with different controllers
  • These same controllers and dongles work fine on other PCs without ever turning off during use
  • Multiple USB ports, front and back including trying the extra USB on my keyboard/monitor which kept the distance between the controller and dongle to less than a foot apart.

So through process of elimination it HAS to be something on this specific PC that is causing the issue. Has anyone ever ran into this?

Is there any way to play the original main storyline without Xbox Live Gold?

I just ported over from PS4, and this is the only game I could afford at the time. I want to know if there's a way to play the original storyline, that is, the storyline prior to the release of Rise of Iron and the Taken King.

I play Destiny and I'm familiar to the game and such. I'm not even mad, because I have to make a new character. I just don't feel like paying 9.99 a month (or other payment options) for one game. I have played maybe 4 missions, but it seems like I can't play Strikes without Xbox Live Gold. I can't play in Offline mode, because if I am unable to connect to the Destiny servers, I can't access the game.

Are there any specific workarounds or anything so I don't have to pay a fee to play a single game on a single console that I barely use?

How can I view the content of a USB stick on a PS4?

I'm trying to view some data that's on a USB stick in my PS4. I tried formatting the USB stick with FAT32 (4GB), but that didn't work. I tried a second one, doesn't work either... or I just don't know where to look for my data.

I tried in Settings -> Devices, but there are no storage devices it seems. So I go to Settings -> System Storage Management, nothing there either. How can I access the USB stick or how can I transfer data onto a PS4?

Why are there unreachable bananas?

Right when you start running on Minion beach (before you jump on the spring), look on the the top left corners of the screen. There are floating bananas! I don't know if this is a glitch of there is a special method though. If possible, how do you get them?

Note: I play on PC, not mobile. Just to see if it's only PC that has those bananas.

Are there any cheats in single-player MGS V allowing you to unlock weapons or level up your Mother Base teams?

Basically, I've finished the game, done all the missions (some of them 2 or 3 times), the side ops, and almost all of the replay missions that pop up later on. Even so, I'm only at R&D level 45, still really far away from meeting the R&D team requirements for a lot of weapons and items (level 60 being the highest, I think). I'd like to play around with those items, but I'm not going to just grind the missions over and over (and over) to get them. I'm not interested in playing online, so an offline-only solution or a save-game file would be fine. It seems as if the R&D requirements are calibrated for a longer game, which MGS V is rumored to have been before it was rushed out the door by Konami. So is there a file I can edit or something to either just unlock those weapons and items immediately, or a way to edit my R&D team level?

How to kill a witch without touching it?

Okay I know that's kind of self explanatory but I'll give some explanation. I'm playing minecraft and on our current world we've input a rule not to hit mobs. So weapons including bows are off limits for mobs. A bucket of lava is our main tool for killing since technically we aren't attacking it. Simply placing and picking up the lava. Witches don't take damage from lava. So I've done experimenting with dispensers and arrows with redstone and levers and it works but it is not very effective. I'm looking for an effective trap or method of killing witches without actually touching it. No weapons or fishing rods.
