How do I set custom diagonal deadzones for my Xbox 360 controller on PC?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 03:25 AM PDT

I'm playing a fighting game and the angle to get diagonal inputs on my left joystick is very tight. For example, to get a top right diagonal input, I need to be quite near the 45 degree angle from the vertical/horizontal otherwise the input gets registered as an up/right.

I want to know if there are any PC apps or settings that will allow me to map a range of angles on the joystick to a set of different angles/inputs (i.e. want to widen the range of diagonal input) to give myself some leniency. Games like Rocket League have this form of deadzone tuning in their settings, but the game I'm playing (Guilty Gear Strive) does not.

I know of Steam controller configuration and some programs which allow you to tune the deadzones but they only allow you to change your inner/outer circular deadzone. Essentially what I wanna do is turn the joystick into a dpad but with greater angular range for the diagonals.

Below is an image to illustrate my problem. enter image description here

EDIT: Turns out Steam controller configuration already allows you to do this (kind of). You can map the joystick to a dpad using the "style of input" dropdown on the joystick. You can then adjust the range of the diagonal input. However you lose the analog aspect of the joystick so it would still be nice if there is a program to do my task.

Running Genshin Impact on an SD card?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:19 PM PDT

Does anyone know how to get Genshin Impact to run off an external SD card? This is on a PC with very low internal memory storage, so ideally I'd like for the game to be run off the external storage. However, I've read that there can be issues where the game tries checking internal memory for data and if it can't find it it tries to download files, regardless if everything is up to date in the external memory.

For clarification, the external memory I plan to run it on is a MicroSD card

How do scoring penalties work in the PvZ2 Arena?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 10:15 AM PDT

In the Arena, I have been toying around with a few different strategies. Specifically, I've been occasionally opting to over-defend one portion of the lawn while allowing breaches on 1 or 2 lanes, the theory being that with limited sun I'd rather score a lot of points where I can and try to shore up the defenses of other lanes once I have a stronger foothold.

Additionally, I've tried strategies where I go all out on sun plants and either allow them to be eaten or dig them up for space regularly.

That said, I've been trying to figure out if I'm being penalized for this strategy.

  • Is there a reduction in high-value targets when a lawnmower gets launched?
  • Does falling sun reduce (or increase) when a lawnmower gets launched?
  • Do penalties occur if a sun-producer is eaten/dug up?

There are a few wikia articles I've found but they only speak about the aforementioned penalties in general terms, but none seem to be specific:

Given that I've had mixed results wherein sometimes the strategies above work great for my score and other times it's a disaster, I'm trying to figure out if someone can point me to what the math breakdown of the penalties are.

What are the oldest electronic (electric?) arcade games?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT

Up until now I was more than sure that the history of electronic or electric arcade games (played be teenagers in "game saloons") were around early seventies / late sixties of twentieth century. However, today I have found two suspicious (to me) parts in Stanislaw Lem's "The Investigation" SF book, written in 1957.

I don't have access to actual English text for this book, so both fragments are my free translation from Polish original:

A few short-haired youths watched as one shot blue sparks at the small plane circling through the window behind the glass.

The machine next to which he stood was a metal box with glass at the top, under the glass lay a miniature green landscape full of bushes and trees (...). Hottentots catch a kangaroo. There are no Hottentots in Australia, but what's the harm? (...) He pressed the knob. A tiny kangaroo jumped out of its black hole and collapsed into clumps of bushes. (...) three twisted black figures moved to the side. He manipulated the handle, bringing it closer to the suspicious place. At the last moment, the kangaroo jumped out, broke the line of the manhunt and fell back into the thicket. They travelled the entire plastic map several times, and the kangaroo always slipped out at the last moment.

As mentioned above, the original book's text was completed somewhere in 1957-1958 (published in Polish ten years later. I don't know, if it was ever translated and published in English).

My question is: does the above description shows arcade games that was actually available at the time of the book was actually written (1957, so 65 years ago)? Or is this a part of very accurate Lem's prognosis, but in the book itself it was a pure part of fiction (as no such games existed at such times in arcade game history)?

How do I interpret the Death Recap for regular hits and headshots?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:08 AM PDT

With the rising prevalence of AI aimbots and cheaters in Apex Legends, I have heard several youtube content creators mention that reviewing your Death Recap for an unusually high amount of crits/headshots is important to identify if someone is enhancing their ability to kill you, especially if it seemed very quick. Problem is, I don't know what I'm looking at. Where are the headshots?

Rainbow Six Siege ping becames to high when I enter multiplayer (PC)

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 12:13 PM PDT

Ok, I'll try to be very descriptive and, also, short. My ISP uses CGNAT. If a launch a default R6 game, it put me in South Asia servers (ping 20ms), but I live in South America. If I enter a multiplayer game, to ping goes up to 130ms. If I force a brazilsouth server (Game.ini config file), the ping goes to 130ms. Ubisoft says it must be that my TCP/UDP ports are closed. I have already open ports in my router and, also, try to do the same on windows (netsh or something). If I use a VPN, the ping goes back to normal (20ms). After all this, my question is: is there a way to configure something on my side to solve this?

Thanks.

Can I achieve multiple endings on one playthrough?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 02:57 PM PDT

While playing Death's Door I've come to realize that there are multiple endings. I'm not quite sure how many endings there are, but I know there's at least two, one of which is considered the "True Ending". I have no idea how to achieve this ending, and I'd like to avoid spoiling it for myself. However, I'm also not interested in doing a second playthrough once I finish my first one (at least not right away).

So, ideally, I'd like to just keep playing as I am, and once I beat the "final" boss, then I can worry about trying to achieve this "True" ending (if I haven't already). However, I'm not sure if that's possible, since many games will lock you out of the "True" ending past a certain point, forcing you to do a second playthrough.

Can I achieve multiple endings on one playthrough? Is there a "point of no return", past which, I'll be locked out of achieving the "True" Ending for that playthrough?

How do I find a resource pack which helps make retextured spiders less scary in 1.12.2?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 06:00 PM PDT

(For context, I am arachnophobic. Horribly arachnophobic)

Recently, I've been playing a lot of Wynncraft (a mc java server). However, some areas in the server have lots of retextured spiders (and because of my condition I am blocked off from a lot of the game, like Qira Hive or Temple of Legends). That's why I've tried hunting for a resource pack. However, none of them seem to help with my arachnophobia. The best I can get is a resource pack which retextures vanilla spiders into pig-like creatures. Below is a list of things preventing me from finding the right one

  1. My arachnophobia. It is insanely hard to find a resource pack myself without stumbling on "scary spider resource pack" or even a photo of a real spider.

  2. I play on 1.12.2. This is a big problem because I cannot drag the pack to the top, overriding the wynncraft pack, due to the fact that it is for a different version.

  3. Wynncraft has retextured spiders. For instance, Nivla Forest has the "nesting spider" which is even more horrifying than the vanilla "young forest spider" due to the retextures. Even worse, some of the spiders are armor stand mobs.

Please help! This will not just help me but it will help us arachnophobes who struggle to play minecraft!

How to end the game in 2-player Lemmings (Super Nintendo), with no "Nuke" option?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:27 AM PDT

I'm sharing my old SNES games with my kids and we were trying out the 2-player mode on Lemmings.

Sadly, it seems you can get into the situation where someone has used all of their "Bombers" and still have "Blockers" left that aren't able to be saved - leaving the 2-player game stuck with no way to keep playing without resetting the console.

In 1-player mode, there are three ways to get out of this situation:

  1. Hold SELECT and Press START
  2. Use the "Mushroom Cloud" button to "Nuke" all the Lemmings
  3. Wait for the timer to run out.

Here is a screenshot of the second option in 1-player mode. Notice the "Mushroom Cloud" in the bottom center of the image (Next to the yellow highlighted "Digger" box):

Super Nintendo Lemming 1 player Nuclear Option

Unfortunately, in 2-player mode the SELECT + START method doesn't seem to work - even if both players do it simultaneously. That leaves the other two options, but with no timer and no "Nuke" option on the screen, it seems that it is impossible to end the round and keep playing when you get into this situation.

Here is a screenshot showing the lack of a "mushroom cloud" button in 2-player mode:

Super Nintendo Lemmings 2-player mode screenshot

We no longer have the game manual, but surely there should be a way to continue playing the game in those situations? Being forced to reset the console is most disappointing.

Xbox Series S NVME M2 drive doesnt work. How to replace the SSD NVME M2 Drive?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:08 PM PDT

I bought another NVME m2 drive from ebay that is 512GB and did a clone from the Series S nvme drive using Macrium Reflect. And the system would just turn off when I press the power button. Anyone have this issue?

Putting back the original nvme m2 works, but I'm trying to replace it because there is an issue with the original M2 causing games to lag and freeze. Are the nvme m2 drives married to the Xbox Series motherboard?

What is the weapon damage range formula?

Posted: 07 Aug 2021 02:45 AM PDT

When a gun is firing past the "effective damage range," what is the formula to calculate how much damage it does? For example a Thompson does 38 damage and has an effective range of 90 meters, when I am shooting someone at 100 meters, how much damage would I do? What is the formula for that? I am attempting to make an Excel sheet on weapon damage and how much they do past the effective damage range for each gun, so whoever can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

I set a password on my PS Vita, and my brother somehow restored my data (meaning he deleted it). Can I get it back?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 01:24 PM PDT

So, basically, I set a password on my PS Vita and my brother decides to mess around with it. I don't know how, but he somehow restored the Vita, which means all data and settings are deleted and set to original settings.

It's a factory reset, basically.

I did a little investigating, and here's what I came up with.

I don't think that it reset the Memory Card. I have one, but it doesn't say that it would, but even if it did, whenever I put the Memory Card in after taking it out, it says that a Playstation account is linked to it, and it asks me if I want to link it.

Yes, it's my account. But the weird thing is, it detects the Memory Card externally, but not internally, with the settings. So it detects when I take it out, meaning it shows notifications, but when I click the following in settings...

"Playstation®Mobile"

It says...

"No memory card is inserted."

So I'm confused.

I've tried to get to Safe Mode a couple times, it doesn't bring me there.

My question, obviously, is how to get my data back. I am fairly sure I still have the data on my memory card, and the external system detects it, but Content Manager, Settings, etc. don't. So how?!

How do I unlock more master levels in Doom Eternal?

Reconnect wireless XBox 360 controller to PC after idle timeout

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 12:02 PM PDT

Sometimes during games that have significant downtime (lobby waits, briefings, etc) I leave the 360 controller alone for long enough that it disconnects. If I attempt to immediately reconnect by turning the controller back on with the center (Guide?) button, the controller's lights indicate that it has reconnected, but the computer won't register any inputs from it.

Is there a recommended way to reconnect after the idle timeout?

Things I've tried already:

  • Disconnecting and reconnecting the receiver from the computer allows the controller to connect, though it often reconnects as player 2, then 3, then 4...then 1 again, and that seems to matter for how the computer enumerates it. Once it's back to player 1, all my software except for Teamspeak will recognize it as the same controller. The push-to-talk in Teamspeak has to be rebound.

  • Waiting for "a long time" (i.e. putting the controller down after a play session and then using it the next session) allows it to reconnect normally (i.e. I don't need to rebind anything, and it reconnects as player 1) so it seems like there's a second idle timer in play, but I don't know how long it is.

How do I import a .zip minecraft map into Minecraft?

How do I clear my progress on Clash Royale?

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 04:02 PM PDT

I've got an old Clash Royale save game on Google Play Games that I would like to overwrite. Most games will let you do this but for some reason Clash Royale won't let you do that. How can I overwrite this with my current save game. And I don't want to use Facebook, only Google Play.

Here's a better explanation:

I've got a save game on my GPG Account. But I've got my current game on my device, not connected to my GPG Account. I would like to put my current game onto Google Play, and delete my old game.

Summoning enderpearls on arrows with custom name shot by a player

Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:05 PM PDT

I want to shoot an arrow named "GreenArrow" that constantly summons enderpearls named "GreenPearl". Those pearls should execute a command at armorstands within 1 block. That command is /setblock ~ ~-1 ~ wool 5.

To do this, I have 4 command blocks, and 2 dummy scoreboard objectives. the dummy objectives are as follows:

/scoreboard objectives add GreenArrow dummy /scoreboard objectives add GreenPearl dummy

The 4 command blocks that are repeating and always active, are as such:

/scoreboard players set @e[type=arrow] GreenArrow 1 {CustomName:"GreenArrow"} /execute @e[type=arrow,score_GreenArrow_min=1] ~ ~ ~ summon ender_pearl ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"GreenPearl"} /scoreboard players set @e[type=ender_pearl] GreenPearl 1 {CustomName:"GreenPearl"} /execute @e[type=ender_pearl,score_GreenPearl_min=1] ~ ~ ~ execute @e[type=armor_stand,r=1] ~ ~ ~ setblock ~ ~-1 ~ wool 5

This works when the arrow us summoned using this command,

/summon arrow ~ ~80 ~ {CustomName:"GreenArrow"}

but not when shot by a player. I have tested with a arrow with the custom name in it's NBT data and when renamed in a anvil.

The arrow is shot just fine, but is not detected by the command blocks unless summoned as previously mentioned.

I do belive it has something to do with the way the arrow is shot, in creative mode or survival/adventure there is no difference. It seemes like the arrow looses it's NBT data after being fired from a bow. There were no issues with this before the CustomName was added.

Are anyone here able to assist?
