Minecraft running slow but resource usage is low

I am trying to help a friend of mine get his Minecraft instance running decently.

He has a workstation laptop with an i7 (3rd gen, not sure which exact model), a Nvidia Quadro K3000M, 16 GB RAM and an SSD. So hardware-wise it's not a gaming laptop but should be strong enough to work decently.

In both vanilla (1.16.5) and the Team Rustic modpack (v2.13, running on Minecraft 1.16.4), he often has low single-digit FPS when other players with worse setups get 15-30 FPS in the same regions of the world. This is with lowest graphics settings (including a render distance of 2 chunks). I then installed Optifine and turned everything down to nothing, which increased the FPS, but now he gets 4 FPS instead of 2. FPS limiting is set to 60 FPS.

Since he has a huge monitor, he plays in windowed mode and uses only a rather small part of the screen. So not too many pixels either.

I tried it either without Java flags or with these ones:

-XX:+UseG1GC -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=2147483646   -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20   -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M

And there isn't any appreciable difference either way.

I tried Java 8 (x64) and Java 11 (x64) and also that didn't change a thing.

The lagometer always reports "white" as the most time consuming task by a far margin.

What is really weird is that both the CPU and GPU are more or less idle at that time. They are <50°C and usually have an usage of <20%. RAM usage is usually around 12GB/16GB, since I turned his Java minimum and maximum memory usage to 6GB for Minecraft. The SSD should also not be a bottle neck.

Do you know what could cause this weird behaviour?

One more thing: This is a multiplayer session and the server software is not running on this laptop. So the laptop only handles the Minecraft client.

I am making a one block skyblock that is going very well except the blocks fall off the edge when they shouldn't because a command block should tp the item to the infinity block.

Can you run games that require a Memory Card on a PS Vita Slim or PS Vita TV without it?

Some games like Project Diva f/f 2nd require a Memory Card to be inserted in the console for the game to work. Is possible to run this type of games without a Memory Card in the 2nd Generation PS Vita (Slim) or the PS Vita TV? (as both consoles should have 1GB of internal memory)

My friends can't connect to my Minecraft Server

People can't connect to my server minecraft over internet (just lan). I installed the server and disabled the firewall. I think the problem is the port 25565 (which I already opened). I have been read a lot but anything works, please help

How do you get the hook shot to work in The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

In The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D I got the hook shot and registered it to the Y button. When I push Y to use it, it shoots out and hits something but doesn't carry Link to the platform. I've tried it in areas that I have watched other people use it and it still does not work.

Is this a glitch? Did this happen because I missed out on learning Epona's song before going to the Temple of Time to get the Master Sword. Please help because I do not want to start a new save file.

Is there a way to stop a hopper minecart while taking items out a chest?

I have a super smelter in a server and I would like to try to make the hopper minecart automatically stop to feed in items from the chest. Is there a way to do this via Redstone in a way that I could afk it and with a steady supply of items, it automatically stops the cart when empty when below the chest.

How do you enchant your weapons without hitting the "too expensive" thing?

Ok, so we all know the infamous words, "too expensive". I think everyone who has played Minecraft knows what these words mean, and for those who don't, I'd advise you to try and not hit those words, because it makes your life harder. So I was looking around the Internet, and I found out that the anvil hits a certain level cap. And I'm trying to enchant my bow, but I don't know how to avoid those words. Is there a certain way to enchant a weapon so it doesn't become "too expensive"?

For those players who don't know what "too expensive" means, it's when you hit a certain upgrade cap (I don't really know what it's call, so ima call it upgrade cap) on an anvil. So when you use an anvil, each time you enchant a weapon of your chose, the XP requirement will keep getting higher until you hit the "too expensive mark. Even if you have enough XP, it will still say "too expensive", so enchant you gear WISELY.

I've been getting some nostalgia about the game Plants VS. Zombies. I tried to see if PopCap (or EA, idk which) have abandoned it, but it gives me different answers such as PvZGW, PvZGW2, PvZ2, PvZ3, etc. and what I am talking about is the PvZ 1 (the first one, that i think everyone knows). Is it abandoned/dead anyway? or is there any announcement that it will be continued?

How do I get giant ancient cores easily? I really need guardian parts, especially giant ancient cores to upgrade my ancient armor. I followed quite a few tutorials, but they all are either, have the guardians, but don't drop like it was in the tutorial, or there is no guardians. I tried ancient core duping, but it took forever, but it didn't yield any giant ones.

I was playing a game on my phone, and an advertisement appears about the game 'Hero Wars', but Hero Wars does not play anything like what is shown in the ad.

The advertisement shows a hero being placed on various levels of a tower to defeat enemies and level up:

How to change the playback speed of a clip in PS5’s media gallery, similar to what’s possible in PS4?

In PS4, whenever I view a clip I captured, I can fast forward or rewind by pressing either left/right or L2/R2, which would adjust the playback speed up to a maximum of 120x. However, in PS5, L2 and R2 don't seem to have any effect, while left/right would always jump by 10 seconds. Is this to be expected? Feels like a massive regression to me since when jumping by intervals of 10 seconds, I can't see exactly what was happening as the image is always frozen at the original frame, and I can't locate a specific passage of play as a result. The 10 seconds interval is also too coarse I want to see for multiple times one specific play which finished in e.g. 3 seconds.

GTA V reverting cloud saves?

As I said in my last post, my cloud saves were behind on my missions. Since I play GTA V on Geforce Now, my data always gets erased to I rely on the cloud to save my games. However, I noticed that when I reinstalled the epic version of GTA V, the saves were behind a lot. So I played for a while more, and then reinstalled again, and then they were also behind.

But the thing is, I checked the social club before I installed it and it showed the right amount of progress, but when I installed gta the progress was reverted on both gta and social club! I'm wondering what's going on, and is there a way to solve this? Could it be a problem with the Epic games save?

Can I farm iron in Minecraft Bedrock edition?

Is there any decent1 way to farm iron in Minecraft Bedrock edition (survival mode)?

The best I've found so far is this silentwisperer's tutorial based on Pekoneko's iron golem farm. But despite it being designed specifically for Bedrock edition, it seems to have some reliability issues, according to people's comments. I'm willing to spend the week it would take me to build it, but not if it's going to need repairing every time I log in the game.

Laking of another solution, I'm just mining the iron, which is painfully slow. I'm aware of these tips and of this, both helpful when you need a lot of iron... but not so much when you need an insane amount of it2.

(1): by decent, I mean automatic (or at least semiautomatic) and reliable. It doesn't need to yield a trillion ingots per hour, as long as it isn't slower than actually mining the iron, it's fine.

(2): I'm building a rather large auto-organizer storage system, and it will require 10.505 iron ingots for the hoppers alone. I'm already halfway there, but it's taking forever.

How to activate commands around a tagged entity with command blocks?

So I am trying to set the score of a person within two blocks of a tagged armor stand, but the commands I thought would work don't.

I have tried

execute at @e[tag=GFlag] run scoreboard players add  @a[scores{dropFlag1.0=0},team=Red,distance=..2] 1

and

execute at @a[team=Red,scores={dropFlag1.0=0}] if entity @e[tag=GFlag,distance=..2] run scoreboard players add @a[team=Red,scores={dropFlag1.0=0}] 1

but neither has had the results I wanted.

Fingerprint scanner in minecraft

I want to make a fingerprint scanner in minecraft that lets players through a door. I want this to be realistic, so that the player actually has do to something with their hand in order to be let in. I don't want to stray too far from the point, but this is (in a nutshell) how it works:

  1. The player rotates glass in an item frame.
  2. A command block system detects whether the player should be allowed in and, supposing the player is allowed in;
  3. The glass in the item frame turns green.

I have got part 2, but I need help with part one and three, so, in conclusion:

  1. How do I use /testfor to detect glass rotating in an item frame and;
  2. How do I /setblock green_stained_glass_pane?

Cross-Platform changes to Same-Platform in Fortnite BR, can I revert this?

A few versions ago, in Fortnite BR on PC, near the middle-right, I see

(Playing with strangers) Fill with: Same-Platform || (Who you are against) Play with: Cross-Platform.

Now, after a few updates, it indicates:

Fill with: Same-Platform || Play with: Same-Platform.

Whoa, that means, in updates, it somehow changed playing with different platforms to same platform(PC).

Can I change this, and how can I?

Download stuck at 100 mb every time

I downloaded 600mb Dota 2 the first time then paused and shut off my PC. The next day the download started from 100 mb. I resumed the download, it went till 800 mb, but the next day when I opened steam on offline mode it showed 1.6 GB downloaded. I restarted steam in online mode then it resumed from 200mb.

How do you see the progress of your challenges in-game?

In Battlefield 1, you can complete challenges to earn medals. However, oftentimes it is incredibly frustrating not knowing how far you are in these challenges. For instance, there is some sort of 'tracking circle' on the left hand side that slowly goes round until it's full - but it doesn't give you a number (e.g. 4/10). If I remember correctly, the number is shown briefly when moving upwards in the challenge.

More importantly, after a round's finished you can't find this information either. (It says 'kill 10 Scouts...' but not how many you've killed so far.)

Am I missing something to show the current progress of the challenge? A keyboard shortcut? Clicking on a specific item? Sacrificing a goat to the Earthmother? I've tried everything I can think of.

Minecraft split screen with xbox live

I'm having trouble getting 3 players on Minecraft. One player is connecting via Xbox live and 2 players are using the split screen but it will not let me connect the second player even before the second player going via Xbox live gets on.

What is the best use for gold in Minecraft?

I can't think of any way to use gold properly. It is quite weak when used for tools or armour, and because of its rarity, I'd rather not use it for stuff like that. I'm also not really into decoration, so just a gold wall won't really be the answer I'm looking for! Is gold just useless or is there something that only can be made with gold?

Wasteland exploration

I know there are a lot of questions about the wasteland in fallout shelter I only have one problem not sure if it can be answered directly. I currently have one dweller out exploring the wasteland. He's name is Jericho. He has been out for 3 days... not finding anything. He has high L,S,E and P after I trained him so he should be finding good items? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Earlier today I send out one dweller that came in from the wasteland because of the radio station, I give him a rusty BB gun and check on him an hour later and guess what he has found?... A guided fat man. This should not be possible right?

I've seen quite a few videos on Youtube where spies repeatedly switch to a scout disguise after each kill. Slow scouts seem like obvious spies. Why not choose a Pyro, Engineer, Medic, or Sniper?

When playing Support, at what time should I run Clairvoyance and when should I run Heal?

I don't mind playing support, I actually enjoy it most of the times. My question then is, in saying that one of my Summoner spells is already Flash for both situations, when should I use Clairvoyance and when should I use Heal?

How do you take out the Hammer Brothers in Super Mario Bros.?

They always kill me or make me little and I have literally not found a way to kill them. The ones that are on the blocks like in this picture aren't as bad because you can hit the blocks to take them out. The problem are the ones that are just standing there say, on a set of stairs or something.

Is there some trick to this that I am just not getting?
